1.
Stageclix are brilliant - digital, no lag, great sound... really, really, rate it http://www.bassdirec...Stage_Clix.html
TBH I had this system from bassdirect, Mark has been a top guy about the whole thing aswell. But I totally didn't get on with the stageclix. Don't get me wrong it works wonders for a lot of people, and it did sound awesome. However only when 'I' played really lightly with 'my' bass. For some reason it distorted loads, and I tried everything possible to not get this distortion but it appeared to be there most of the time while I was playing so it wasn't any use to me. I have a sony wireless system fro him now to test out so hopefully it works a lot better. But it seems to be accepting my loud output volume a lot better than the stageclix. Also it has a input attenuation aswell. Can't wait to get using.
 2. I don't have too many influences to call from, I played bass on my own in my room with only what I learned from guitar to fall back on for about a year. however I believe I've taken Takeshi Ueda's constant fills and runs at the end of chord structures, Tim Commerford's fingerstyle, along with Doug Johns' attack. Also I learned to not really give a crap too much about what I'm doing, as long as I enjoy it.
 3.
I have been so close to owning one so many times!
Me too, I really dig the e-series from the 80's (IIRC) the black bridge and control plate look awesome, headtstock design is nice and simple. I'd like to own one, but it has to be the right one.
 4. true. majority of my board is made up of the compressor and my wireless system.
 5.
It died
FLOL
 6. what is wrong with the nova dynamics?
 7.
The answer to that is definitely ...... "not enough band activity". My band has been rather dormant over recent months. For me, my GAS and my band activity are inversly proportional. the more I play, the less I obesess about gear !
get another band? possible?
 8. I'd take a few days off basschat and eBay, you'd be surprised what it does to your GAS. I've done it and I only really change stuff if I have too(ie not happy with it) hopefully the new cab that's coming will settle my rig for a while but I haven't brought a bass since I got back and brought the sandberg, nothing else really cuts the mustard in reality. Personally I start suffering sleep and anxiety with regards to gear when a few shows go poo and I don't get compliments(a bit big headed I guess) but once I do get some positive feedback or hear it back and I'm happy with it usually I'm fine. Hopefully just had the last spell of buys and just have to focus on the other crap, strings and such.
 9.
These sound interesting, any notable improvement to recording tone?

These sound interesting, any notable improvement to recording tone?
Provisionally sold. I'm not too sure, it makes a difference through PA's and sound engineers have said i'be had a very manageable sound, would certainly if you are recording usinga mic on the cab, depending on the way you record it.
 10. I have here a micro thumpinator. in as new condition. A great bit of kit, it has a high pass filter set at around 30 hz to take away loads of sub bass which stops amps and cabs working as well as they can, really tighten up low end of big cabs and saves headroom on little stuff. will power ona 9v adapter only, or a multi adapter thing such as the diago powerstation Only selling as the genz I have now has this filter in the head anyway making it redundant. posted for £75 or will trade fro a nice dirt pedal (no fuzz)
 11. Made a pedal for pedal trade with hamfist, very easy and very fast done and dusted, and I'm super pleased.
 12. Super guy, brought two of my cabs from me. Good comms, speedy with messages etc, really nice guy all round.
 13.
The Streamliner already has a similar circuit to the Thumpinator and so adding this will not make a lot of difference.
Really? I thought it was just the shuttles 3 and 6 that have that HPF so they don't blow the small speakers that came with the combo versions??
 14.
If it is the Streamliner that's causing the problem, what head would work well with the Barefaced Super 12 in your opinions, baring in mind, I am using an American Standard Precision, and we play classic/southern rock, some Dr Feelgood/pub-rock and blues.
Markbass, the VLE filter is one of the best filters out there, will go really vintage, does have loads of bottom but not boomy at all, would recommend to the hilt. Alhough I feel also that the low EQ is set too low, and the low mid EQ is set too high. It is a really usable set of frequencies though.
I'm also using passive Jazz/Precision combos and really didn't like the Streamliner (not even mentioning the 3 different volume knobs). As someone also said, I quickly went back to my Markbass, which I pretty much run 'all at 12', apart from the VPF/VLE which get run about 8oclock or 9oclock Si
I didn't get on with the streamliner due to the 3 volumes??? a bit silly.
My main problem with the Streamliner was how it holds together. I could hear it, but like the TC RH450 (albeit not as severely) at volume it seemed to lose its shape. Something to do with the power management, maybe? I spent a year on it, tweaking it at every gig. All boooooom, and no b*****ks.
The power management works on the same principles I believe, athough TC were crafty about it, but to me it just sounds too compressed and unnatural.
Another thing, which I might not have experienced as I was usually using practice room cabs, (quite large ones) is that the power of the Streamliner was causing your cabs to start to compress as they couldn't take the full whack, which is totally understandable for any 2x10. I'm very cautious with the Streamliner as it really is a hammer.
Possibly, I had the 900 and it had massive power but I couldn't really get a usable sound from it even after dropping the lows a little, it might be different now I have a thumpinator, but I have a shuttle 6 now which I believe chokes the same frequencies??
 15.
These Focus cabs are just great. Dont think for any second that they are 'budget' in any way. They may be cheaper than a lot of the top stuff but thats the only difference! Agree about the handle though
I have the 410T coming in soon so glad to hear this, TBH I was sold on Ed Freidlands video on youtube.
 16.
@essential tension...its his band so he sorts of calls the shots. but as prime bass says ive argued the toss and said why dont we just drop a fret problem sorted what do i know im only a bass player and apparently we know sod all
Precisely, no need for you to droptune even further. IF you drop everything down a fret you'll be playing the same notes as if it were detuned to Bb, only you'll retain tension and definition in notes. if this is whats going to happen, don't detune just play everything a fret down, I doubt they'll notice a thing.
 17.
I think as Prime said you get the spring plate and 4 thumb turns with that though to be fair
Yeah you do, handy for those of us who have owned 1990's Stingrays.
 18.
Drop C is too high for her? Is her name Brian Blessed?
That's what I was thinking? A girls voice is 'tuned' higher than a dudes anyway so I find it hard to believe that DROP C is to high for her, unless that is she can't sing. (her head voice, which is the high bit) is a few notes higher than what a guys is so should find it easy to get in range of C#, D) I feel like she should adjust for you guys since she is joining you. Although there is no need to detune further. If all the songs never go lower than C# then just play everything fret lower. It'll be the same as detuning every string down a half step. So no need to do a re-string or a setup.
 19. Mark at bass-direct supplied me some a while back, not too sure anymore. £25 though, but you get the assably with the grub screws also(not just foam)
 20. They've re-done the ye-olde Sabre now too....
 21.
Thanks for this, Bert! Now of course, I want one. I'm using a BFM J12 for rehearsal and 2 X ABM 410Ts for gigs and the conclusion I've come to is that I need a second J12. ...Or a '69er... according to BF the '69er has five mid-range drivers and one full-range driver, is this in fact the case? What is the configuration of the drivers? Cheers.
It's a 6x10 the full range driver is in the top left, and is there for the highs, the rest have a crossover or something, so you get less of that frequency dips in the midrange, although I'm not sure. If you email alex he will tell you more accurately.
 22. was this from the graft range?
