As money seems to be super tight these days and I need the cash to sort out some more cabbages! these are only what is going so far, although I have a mice Moogfooger LPF here aswell, and a BOSS GEB-7 and BOSS LS-2 that I'd like to keep around. Only selling these as they are replaceable if I ever wanted to, although both as I believe a little hard to come by. WMD Geiger Counter - civilian issue. Fantastic multi voiced OD, Dist, Saturation, Fuzz noise box, and super slim line. Will do a lot of sounds but my primary use was as a bit crusher. Lots of sounds too many to go through. I brought it new from the states and it cost me a whopping £180 including all duties (IIRC) As such it has only been used in light home use, has a battery installed, but it is suggested that it be run of a 9v supply. Is in new condition with box and everything. The feet don't come ready on it but it comes with some stick on ones in the box which are still here. £110 + £3.50 postage. insured etc. Preferably bank transfer, I've reached the limits on both my own and my Girlfriend's Paypal account and hate paypal anyway. Groove Regulator, version one. This is in a pretty similar condition as to the GC, shep still has teh bag and stuff so will need time to collect that from him. Brought from him a few weeks ago, and it sounds lovely with dirt, or clean signals. Especially nice with strong gated fuzz pedals. Could never work my head around it but when you get that sweet spot its very nice subtle enevelope, puts a nice sheen over the highs, and just sounds pleasing. Very warm. Has a feedback switch rather than the knob which these come with now. £100(what I paid) + £3.50 postage insured etc. Bank transfer prefered etc.. Will do my best to get photos' tomorrow but I am away on a job for the all important monies! and right now the money is more important. I would love to keep these things as they sound great but if I ever venture properly into dupstep/drum and bass it will be largely on a sub and wub and not much else basis. Trades - Not too sure I want to except anything, but interested in the MB - tube marker or whatever it is called. interested in smallish cabs right now too, but cash is king. doubtful I'd expect a bass aswell. Can't really afford to buy the strings for them right now! Will combine postage if someone wants both.

I have a spare SMB-4A lying around if you want that a bit cheap? D is the ceramic one (yuk) while the A is alnico which is a far better magnet for bass pickups.

barefaced cabinets looking for one to tryout?
Prime_BASS replied to 0175westwood29's topic in Amps and Cabs
Barefaced HQ is in brighton, but that is a fair few hours drive! Probably better search barefaced in this section and see which members that have posted NCD's threads are closest to you. -
I miss being a 4 piece.........
If its genuinely faulty but then if you get a neck pocket you're not happy with but is within Manufacturers tolerances. You'll have a fight maybe. Not that anyone in here would be fussy over neck pockets
could argue that for a lot less you can geta local luthier to craft up a neck that is made for that body so it fits perfectly. Not just crack a standard neck out and hope that it matches the body A-OK.

How to actually write Basslines.....??
Prime_BASS replied to Prime_BASS's topic in General Discussion
A lot of what has been said is what I expected to be said, and on a whole I'd agree. As simple as 'feel' sounds it's rather difficult. My feel to begin with seems fine, but on one song in particular the new rythm guitar section's feel is totally different and has made me hate the song and hate playing it, don't get me wrong it's a nice tune, and the line is fairly simple, but the whole rythmic pattern of the song's verse's has had to change, and IMO for the worse. I don't knwo what to do to make it better, playing simply (just roots with an odd trill or 5th) makes the song sound boring, while playing more sounds out of place. I think I have a decent middle ground, but I still don't enjoy the song or think I have any 'feel' for it. It's like I'm trying to fit in too much. While on another song took use a whole 3 goes to get the song solid and the 2nd play through I had a decent idea of what the bassline would be, and it's sticking so far. Another has taken me a whole year to get it sounding right to me, and to be in place with the song. This maybe due to the fact that I have progressed a lot since the song was first written.
From my outlook, the first rather impromptu questions would be: Can you hear the music, or parts of it, in your head? YES Can you just repeat bits, like one line, "eternally" and get a feel for a bass line's character? DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH I LIKE THE SONG Can you experiment in your head with different types of bass lines on those bits? I don't mean this as in litteral tones, but more like a conveyed atmosphere? I DON'T THINK SO Can you translate that atmosphere into (some) specific tones? NO
I cvan imagine different kinds of lines no problem, but only to songs that wouldn't yet have a bassline that is solid and ingrained in my mind. -
There is countless free material on the internet telling us how to play the instrument, techniques and increases bass vocabulary, but this is only half of it..... I have looked a fair bit, and done a forum search but there doesn't seem to be any material on how to write basslines, or at least apppropriate basslines. How to go about it? What notes to use? What not to use? When not to play? When you can I do a fill? It seems to me that this would be fairly over done topic. Sure enough if I started with 'How do I write standard Rock bassline?', everyone would chime in with standard bumping 8ths, but it's just not as simple as that. Because I played guitar before Bass(been playing bass fopr 4 years now exclusively) I feel I am pretty intermediate and can play a lot of stuff that is difficult, but my actual writing ability isn't great. I still don't know when to go crazy, when to play syncopated, when to just not play. Don't get me wrong, I am not slapping the hell out of the bass while it is clearly a very mellow song. I know I can't have abass grandmaster hovering over me telling what not to play and what to play. I can see a load of responses saying 'feel' and all that, but even with 'feel' how do I really know what is right for a song, and what isn't?

I have a bit of vom in my mouth....

As in the title. Very specific but I have massive markbass gas and since these are basically only the markbass is bigger. Same controls and 12v, I still have box and manual, has some velcro on the underside but I still have the feet aswell, and a power supply. condition, not great I have marked my settings in sharpie but it will rub off and there is a little nick on the top side, nothing drastic and still performs A-OK Stephen

Mel is a top BCer and was very helpful with a swift deal. Cab was as described and came packaged very well. I put absolute trust in her and she me. Buy trade and sell in confidence.

After a few successful shows we actually asked how much it is to hire the venue(that we usually play at) plus a sound man. It tunrs out to break even, with a decent on the door/tickety price we break even what I would consider empty. The actual work comes in when they have to take free time out to get 'randomers' off the street to come in, promising a good night. Inviting your friendlist to the event page, and expecting each band memeber to do the same isn't promotion. I've done this enough to know that people ignore thos invitations, I know I do the majority of the time.
yeh they kinda have an ampeg vibe. very nice theres a really nice 810 classic markbass cab in the for sale section that if i had the money id probably nab! sadly need to sell my 610 first tho for that to happen, or trade it for something he wants! andy
The classic in my opinion are amoeg on roids! At the nott sbass bash a guy had one at it was a killer. I'd like that 8x10 too but so impractical for me.

Watts make barely a difference. As long as the head isn't totally weedy for the cab it'll drive them to max, like I said in previous post, it depends on how much headroom you feel comfortable with.
Or even fonder....!
Or that!! -
Coupling effect you get from the cab being on the floor, next a wall in yst ctuiryytiurotrrnetr. Each flat surface gives you +3dB in the lows(IIRC correctly anywayand around 100hz i think aswell) which is the same as doubling the power...... If you go to barefacebass.com the archived columns go into it better than I can. I'm only saying it is something to watch outfor in some places as it can be boomy and horrible much of a sound, unless you want that deep soul/motown thing. Without asking or looking I'd say you want a tight and controlled bottom, which you can get with either front or rear port, but IMO front ported cabs are more managable when it comes to acoustics. Taller stacks with fewer speakers help clear up low mids I find.

MarkBass Traveller 2x10 p - TRV 102p by Prime_BASS

I can only really compare top the Compact as thats the most recent one that I've had. They sound similar, in terms of sound quality and what noise is produced. As said in the review, I probably would have liked a higher cross over point for the tweeter as when it's off the high's are just too chocked. In my room in the position I have it, it is very loud in the lows, but not really the good kind, but this point in my room has always suffered with boomyness. At the minute I am using it rocked back. Can't really play with too much volume though as I've had a bangiung migrain the past 2 days due to excess bass!!! I wouldn't like to say which is better as each brand has their own merits. Barefaced sounds amazing but the Markbass is finished better, and the overall on stage sound is becoming less and less important to me. The primary change was to have a taller stack(eventually) so the bass is closer to my ear, and using other brand's taller 8x10's etc have been really pleasing results at rehearsals. Getting another barefaced to match the compact just wasn't an option in terms of money as I don't earn a lot at all! Even if I have to get a traveller 102 new it still works out cheaper than getting 2 compacts. When money allows I think I will get a midget again though, as the sound is that good. The email thing, it was sometime ago. At least 6 months ago -
Looking cool dude!! As we are recording this weekend, rather than taking the huge board I thought I'd just put all the pedals I need to play the 1 track we are doing onto my Diago Showman.... .... They don't fit!!!! I can't get the pedals required to perform one song onto a large pedal board. Bad times! Lol
Better for me to use this to answer your twitter comment, as it'll use up about 5 or 6 posts.......... It's still very much tweaking it slightly at minute, but even with what looks like everything off it's adding a slight glassy ness to the highs and rounds the low end, giving a great ATK(attack, you never played pokeon or Final fantasy???) effect. Also cuts a bit of the low rumbling bass which is something I don't need in the band. Lots of midrange and attack. Will have to try a few things before I decide if it stays there or not.As it's best to try pedals with fresh strings on and need to check how it sounds DI'd aswell. through the cab at the minute sounds ace. You can always carry the tuner in your pocket if that helps?????

Current setup minus the Corvid! Want to add it but the pedal train nano is truely tiny! may have to pickup the smaller polytune and then mount the power on the underside.

At least now I know I'm not just being an asshater. Seems fairly stupid, especially how they asked us to play...... If we had asked to play and they said "can you get some people to buy tcikets from here(included link) and quote the band's name, s many as possible, we would like a minium of about 15 or 20 per band." That way it's a lot more polite and cuts out the ridiculous middle man bit that the band has to do. If they keep messaging I am going to ask her how many tickets she is going to sell herself. I will allow her to sell a minium of 50 tickets, but she has to buy them first herself, to then sell on to others..... Our current setup with this guy in the link (chaos promotions) is that IF we bring loads of people we get payed, if we don't no big deal. At the minute it is working but we can never garuantee to bring 30 or so people which we have been doing recently. As for the majority they are friends who want to go out and have a good time.
