'The tone' I find the word tone infuriating.... For example : 'I really found my tone with these new strings' kill me now.. growl bark bite any other similar meaningless adjective.

I know it's not the done thing, but I thought this be the best place to do it. Please throw me and my band a bone by going to the link : http://www.facebook....150665791415749 And adding a 'Like' to the linked Cut the Heroics comments and adding your own 'Cut the Heroics' as a comment. The band is quite sick, a real mash up of Reel Big Fish (a fav) and Fall Out Boy (not a fav) the bassist uses a stingray so he gets my props.
Quite possibly. So lets say that it wouldnt be supplied with a centre detent control. Its nicer that way, not knowing if your sound has any treble added or taken away.
Agreed, the John East MMSR in my sterling is fabulous with only a detent on the mid, just turn to what you think sounds best. PM is coming your way.

Something may be amiss. Don't get tied up in the knobs being at 2 or 4 or whatever, this isn't a good representation of overall volume/power. Cabs perform differently in different situations, I would expect any 4x10 to be loud in a shop with a decent amount of juice going into, at the gig I'd expect to not be able to hear articulate the mids very well at all.

Should I add another cab or Switch for something bigger.

If you don't find anywhere then Barefaced is the best option. You also have a full months trail with it to see if you like it and if it does the jobs you need it to do. If I had all the money in the world and didn't have to have the weight and all the other draw backs. Then I would be sporting an Ampeg SVT II and 8x10. In my mind I have the next best thing. The Compact does what I need to do an pretty much any stage I've been on. The only time when I've been unhappy is when the sound guy has put far too much bass into the wedges. -

Barefaced Compact is an excellent one cab solution, and in many respects will out perform a lot of the 4x10 flack that is out there.

First Ibanez TS9-B Brought for a high gain overdrive but it just doesn't do what I want it to so it's for sale. Effectively brand new in box, bix is a little damage and there is a small scruff/scratcg on the front logo. never gigged. £50 posted. Prefer bank transfer. Boss FBM-1 brought for a similar reason but for the low gain settings aswell. Clean side of things is very warm and open for bass, as you increase gain you lose low end though. Brought brand spanking new from RDM in Edinburgh. Still in brand new condition with box. Never gigged. RRP is £79 or something For sale posted £45 Prefer bank transfer. Not looking to trade but I am interested in similar units for similar prices. Would trade either for a Boss MT-2

you won't get any decent low lows with that head, but what's a decent price? If you already have a bass amp head then I don't see a point in buying a guitar amp, that you'll use for bass....

Brought a Markbass keychain off Jake!! Despite it being 'lost' the deal was very fast and very smooth, great communication. The best part is that 2 months later the keychain comes through the letterbox. Stephen

Swapping the valve in EBS Valvedrive for more gain
Prime_BASS replied to electric nate's topic in Effects
Personally, you want a distortion. Not many out there witha tube in it, markbass do one. Although it's 12v (IIRC). You coould find an amazing distortion pedal you love and make it better with a tube pre. The DHA things get good reviews, even sticking a T-rex squeezer after it will give it the vavle sound. What you are refering to is the harmonic distortion you get with tubes, and to me they just sound better compared to any other kind of preamp, SS, FET etc. Although some will argue that a good SS will sound just as good, it's still not the same. I'm after a ~SVTIIP atm to add more preamp tubes to my signal path. -
Arr. Although if it were reverted to a 'ray and we ignore any history I dare say it would be worth less than £700 in the current climate. We saw an "imperfect" 'ray go for somewhere in the 500s recently.
I nearly brouight it. I'm sure it was on sale here for £600, still definitly too much for something that by the looks is impossible to revert back to original. The single coil jazz pickup in that back position will soud devilishly good though. If it was under 500 then I think I'd have it. -
At our rehearsal space we enjoy a kebab and a can of coke............. We had to look at ourselves one time though as we all looked like we weren't bothered and it was extremely frustrating. So now we have a kebab afterwards. We take it as serious as possible, and it's still fun we don't need any substances to make it fun, we arn't frigid.

Personally I don't think changing the valve will help much at all. There are other pedal's out there that tick all your boxes though, but I think you'd prefer a distortion than a OD.
