No strict deadline as such, although sooner the better. He would happily wait for the right one to turn up. New or used, or totally broken, he and me arn't fussed (all though it's mostly his cash). Those small set of parameters in the OP are just what it needs. For example there is a nice S1 jazz on ebay in the US but after postage and duty it would nearly be £700. Really has to be £500 or less. It's going to be a beater but has to play, feel and sound quality.

I have 3 brand new sets of HiBeams, 45-100 gauge, brand new! I know use a 45-105 Sunbeams so these are surplus. One set's box is ripped but the strings are brand new all the same. £20 a pack. £35 for 2 £50 for 3. all three have gone at the minute Posted, Bank transfer preffered. Also a Short Comfort Strapp. Honestly the best strap I've ever owned, super comfortable and supportive. I now use the medium (AKA long) for a little extra length, so this is now surplus. Used but still functions 100% the same as new. £20 posted Bank Transfer preffered. Bargains!

Uncomfortable band vs. life vs. me situation
Prime_BASS replied to Immo's topic in General Discussion
Those guys dropped out of school to play rock and roll. They're dedicated.
I take my band just as serious as I do life, and my job. At times I feel tired, and it's cause I don't treat myself right, but then I get back on track. Regular, gruelling exercise, regular band rehearsals on top of actual learning bass stuff etc. On top of a full time job. I am the busiest I have ever been in life, yet the Happiest. It's not all candy and roses, after Christmas I was super unhappy to the point were I had to see my doctor about it (past mental issues aswell etc.) but life is no fun without the down times to reflect upon. Anyway.... I think you need to re-evaluate what's making you so tired that you can't do much of anything else. You'd be surprised how much regular exercise and drinking tonnes of water and being good to your body makes a difference. But like anything it takes dedication, but unlike being in a band dedication to yourself pays off. I now get zero back-pain at work or playing bass, I've put weight on (from being drastically underweight). I don't think the band itself is bringing you down but it is perpetuating a sadness/fatigue that is already present, which makes everything else worse. What works for me or anyone else might not work for you but I can only suggest seeing a GP/doctor about your fatigue(don't take the pills route though) and you may well find you don't do nearly as much as you think or eat the best you can. Simple changes to daily routine(diet, biking to work) can make a huge differnce. As for now, if the band is moving at a pace that you arn't comfortable with you need to speak up, you'll only tire yourself out more and cause negative vibes when something does snap, which they will at this current rate. It was hard for us to kick out our past drummers as they were friends, but it wasn't working, and if they are big enough, man enough and nice enough and real friends they won't hold sour grapes. If they do, then you shouldn't bother yourself with such negativity. Ps. I don't think dropping out of school to become 'rock stars' is very big or clever or shows dedication, it only shows stupidity and lack of knowledge and reason about the future. Regardless of how good they (and it sounds like you havent gigged much anyway so who knows) are or sound the chances of making it big or slim, where as finishing school and doing well in life/society is far more easier and rewarding. Securing plan B should be a priority over chasing a the dream, 'Plan A' -
good point. I checked my one piece birdseye neck on my sterling, still ok though.

I have the Mastotron fuzz with the sub switch, which this has so was wondering if anyone has tried the distortion with bass as it has the same sub switch on it. I'm looking for a good distortion/drive pedal and I really like the Mastotron fuzz so have high hopes for this distortion. Thanks. EDIT: This thread has now turned into my distortion quest. I am after a very specific sound from a specific player, vid is a few posts in.

My list of essentials! Tuner - Polytune is great and not much difference in price than a tu-2/3 but I like the boss one as you can have it on constant for lots of lights haha A good Compressor. Good ones will cancel out hum/noise and have visual clue as tyo when it's kicking in so you don't have too much or too little. Mine is the T-rex Squeezer, great control and warm (due to the tube) but I'm looking to get a multi-band like the MXR. Compressors don't just compress, I use mine to fatten up my punk rock sound add sustain and cut noise and bring harmonics up to level, it barely does any compressinmg. A DI/EQ pedal. If you don't plan on taking your own rig to every gig/recording then this is essential, gives you the control and "your sound" with you. These can be seperate units, the Boss GEB-7 is a fantastic bit of kit with a wide range and easy use, and it's boss strong. For sake a drive is always useful but personally a good big clean sound with lots of control can be very effective across different genre's. More important is the power supply and cabling etc. Shep will back me up, a clean pedal set up goes a long way to eliminating unwanted noise. A nice Chorus is good if you are using an octave, helps gives the octave sound more movement and fluidity. for me personally in a 'normal' band settings I always have my tuner, my comopressor and my head. That's it. If we were talking about my other stuff the list will be very long.

Stunning prices on Genz Benz Focus LT cabs
Prime_BASS replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well spotted Sherlock, that information was in the initial post. An excellent setup at the price from a good company, spot on for four strings. But then what do I know, I'm still searching for the holy grail in the form of a 1 x 10 Neo that drops to 30 Hz and fits in my pocket....
you forgot it has to set it's self up and be louder than the drummer without anyone complaining.... -
I can do it, just can't sing very well. It helps knowing the lyrics and the line off by heart.

Would you ever replace an all tube with a hybrid?
Prime_BASS replied to ashevans09's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had a Orange PA120 (IIRC) and then a Orange AD140HTC. But I only used them for clean so the point of having an 'all tube' head was pointless. Been using hybrids since, never looked back. In a mix the sound difference between a alltube job and a hybrids with a good dirt box is negligable. -
Pics please !!! We need pics of your ....er....picks......
Pictures or it didn't happen.
But which plectrum is best for metal?
Metal ones. I brought a relic'd pick on eBay. I have to say I'm amazed how comfy it feels, and my tone is so warm now. Definitly good investment. Really improved my tone and playing.

I want to trade this for the MXR bass Compressor. The thing is boxed with power supply, the feet have been removed and it has some velco on it, but the feets are still in the box. Excellent sounding, very warm and clear and the tube really makes a difference when using a SS amp. Excellent for bringing harmonics out. I use it as a very light compression and sustainer, beefs up the overall sound very well. Only reason I want to trade is that the tube in my amp head gives enough harmonic distortion and warmth for me, plus the MXR's visual limiter would make it 10x easier for me to use, I'm no good with knobs. Gain, threshold, Attack, Level, Comp and Release. Lot's of control and the tube looks great when powered up. I paid £100 for it a few weeks ago but failing a trade will sell at £90 + postage (probs a few quids.)
Sounds Like a plan.. picking up the Amp today in Kettering GB Streamliner 900
The streamliner 900 hundred is amazing. However you are mistaken in that the two cabs are similar. They sound totoally different, just the fact that the Super12 will be louder, and go lower and still weighs less(every kilo counts) plus the increased power handling will give you a lot more headroom with the streamliners huge power at 900 watts into 4 ohm. I'm not saying the GB is a bad cab it's just it's no braining for a little bit more monies you'll get a far better cab, all round.
I cant wait to join the Barefaced club Good things come to those who wait
You won't regret it son! I think barefaced's super clean and clear midrange will be the only cab you need to actually have a mid-scoop with, with some basses and saome heads anyway. That ampeg I believe has a similar tone-stack to the Fender bassman/OTB.
Cool! Prime_BASS came to my studio today and gave the cab a good run for its money. I unleashed my new sub tone on him and I think he left with bleeding ears (sorry about that bud! ;-)). The low end is scary!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???? haha . One monster cab, coupled with a monster pedal board and a B-E-A-utiful bass. The extra 10hz lower this can does really makes a difference I think in getting super big clean lows. Not that the Compact is lacking. The BigTwinT is the perfect full range solution and Alex is super confident about his tweeter not blowing. even with Shep's sonic abuse!
