2. I operate the media system in my church and we have had the same problem with certain bits of kit. It turns out that the loop is pretty old and was installed in such a way as to cover way too big an area. Luckily I was in a position to install a smaller loop in the basement. Just as in the post above which appeared while I am typing. We / I send the signal to the loop via aux 1 on the mixer and can just shut it off quickly if a problem arises.

4. They are probably rare because anyone who owns one has hidden it away and won't admit to it.
5. Errr Dove, the manual seems to have disappeared1
6.
If I'm in swansea I'll try and get to this. What do I need to bring ?
Whatever you can manage. People bring basses, amps, cabs and anything bass related of interest.
7.
Get an Ariston RD11 - essentially the same thing only much cheaper, to buy nowadays that is. There was some controversy over who actually invented the Sondek, with the founder of Ariston having originally gone to Ivor Tiffanbraun (sp?) to manufacture them. I had the Sondek, my brother had the RD11 ('S' version I think) and they sounded very, very similar with the Ariston sounding a bit more exciting for rock. Though maybe that was the arm - we weren't bothered enough to swap the tonearms.
It is more likely that Ivor copied / refined the design of the Thorens TD150. I asked him this question once. He didn't deny it. Have had LP12 t/t since 1973. Latest is current spec. Through a Linn 5103 pre-amp into a pair of Krell KSA100 power amps driving a pair of Apogee Caliper signature speakers. Digital formats are through Linn Akurate DS streaming player.
8. At a wedding gig a little old lady came up to me with a tea tray, tea pot cup n saucer etc. and asked if I would like a cuppa. She then poured the tea, pulled over a chair and left the tea on it for me.
9.
How do I unsee that?!?
That's what my wife said.
10.
Any excuse to get me in spandex. I didn't know it was that kind of party
Who mentioned spandex
11.
Go to Cardiff city centre & see a load of shops that every other city has got. Go down to Cardiff Bay & marvel at the way a vibrant multicultural community was destroyed & replaced by a load of sh*tty chain restaurants & places for rich people to moor their boats.
Yep, that sums up the bay. Castle is worth a visit though. If you're in Bristol check out Electric Ladyland. It's a strange sort of music shop where sometimes the owner Steve will actually let customers buy something.
12. At a private function. A 40th anniversary. A granny comes up to the stage towing her 10 year old grandson. She says that he want's to play the drums. I /we suggest that in the middle of the set is not a good idea, maybe at the end. She gets somewhat miffed and proclaims. "I'm the person who is paying for this party, if he doesn't play now you don't get paid." Couldn't argue with that. He was OK for his age and got a standing ovation from his family and freinds.
13. You could clean it in this.
14. When I use my Antoria "P" bass live I sometimes get asked about it. I say it's the one that Fender copied. It's around forty years old, very tatty and cost me £40.plus a new pup. It sounds and plays great. I prefer it to any Fender I have tried.
15. I doubt you will find one "off the shelf" Probably need to make your own.
16. Just bought GK Neo 212 from Jake. Great Guy to deal with, was even prepared to drop at my daughters, a bit out of his way. The cab was exactly as described, a bit road worn BUT sounds fantastic. A great new alternative to use in my rig. Nice one Jake. Thanks.
17. Get together with some others and have a jam of sorts. That's how I got back into playing after a a break of 25 years. Don't worry about how good you are, just enjoy and learn at the same time.
18. Hi all I'm a member of the facebook group. South Wales musicians. Would any one object if I put out an invite to bass players on there?
19. If you were prepared to ship I might go for the cab. Long way, lots of fuel from Cardiff to there and back.
20.
Oh yeah, how would you know then?
http://www.gak.co.uk/en/search I wasn't likely to just guess it was I.
21.
If it sounded good, i would pay around £100 less than the RRP. I think it would look nice in my living room. Pity we didn`t get a demo of the sound in the NAMM clip. They are priced at £549 at Gak, so slightly cheaper than the RRP. Might be under £500 in 6 months time
The GAK price of £549 is without the transmitter.
22. I've been doing this with an old Westone for the last couple of years. Works great for me.
23.
Not really, most people already have these things Ashdown have put them in a box.
Not really. I don't have all these things. Ashdown have put in a box everything I would like to use at home. Without having multiple wall warts and cables. If you are happy with the mess of your suggested alternative, all's well for you.
