Might be nice for a few of us from the Bristol area to pop along too Do you have an idea on the venue yet?
Venue details added to first post. Would be great to have a few Bristolians over.

Top of thread edited to give venue details. Lots of new names showing interest which is great to hear. I will be at committee meeting tomorrow so should be able to finalise the date.

Hi everybody. Yep it's time for another Cardiff, South Wales bass bash. I've just had too much on to think of organising one. I'm thinking July now. So lets have some ideas for dates and I will check out what's available at the usual venue. Oh and you all have to persuade Garry to sell me the eight string Kramer for a nice price. Will start a new thread when things are more definite.

It has evolved a bit since this pic. The Carl Martin combinator supplies all power to the pedals and gives true bypass. Any combination of 8 pedals can be used. With 18 combinations available at the push of a switch. When in use all the pedals except the Combinator are covered. It has a lift off hinged lid for transport. Made from MDF and covered with speaker carpet.

Just back in Cardiff after the Bristol show. Awesome performance and great sound. (Had front row balcony seats) Awaken was probably the showstopper for me. John Davison did a great job on vocals, very strong voice but still not Anderson. Perhaps better than Benoit David. Did miss Rick on keys a bit though. Of course Squire was totally on form. His sound is just amazing as usual. Howe on form too, excellent rendition of "Clap" I've seen every major tour since 1970 and this one does stand out for me. The whole band playing great, timing impeccable and looking like they were enjoying themselves. Hope they tour again.

Funnily enough if you play "I'm on Fire" (Springsteen) it sounds like Dolly.

Here's some http://will-scott-guitars.co.uk/repairs http://musical-instrument-repairs.b99.co.uk/tenby/will-scott-guitar-services/ Same as first one There is a guitar seller in Tenby main st. Not sure if tekkie sells cd's tshirts etc. In Narberth (nearish) just off the main st as you go up hill is a little guitar shop and tutor. Sorry don't know name.
A couple of years ago I was in a music shop in Swansea and I saw a bass I liked the look of, but the whole time I was in there the owner didn't look up from his computer. Even when I tried to talk to him he literally just grunted at me (I wish I was joking or exaggerating, but I really am not). I went back the next day, which was a Saturday, because there was something in the shop next door that I wanted to pick up, so I popped back into the music shop to have another look at the bass. Fortunately they had three very friendly and enthusiastic staff in, the owner was not there, and I got to try the bass and got a nice discount that I didn't even ask for. I don't normally leave the house on weekends, but had no choice that day, otherwise he would have lost that sale. I actually felt bad for buying it afterwards, because I felt he didn't deserve my money, but I really like the bass. I haven't been back since though. In fact, that week I had been to every guitar shop I could find within a thirty mile radius, about eight of them, I think. Some of them tried to be helpful, some of them didn't give a toss. The biggest problem I found was a lack of variety in stock, and only three of them had any bass stuff at all. I have only bought stuff online since, which I feel is a real shame but I have been given on other choice.
I guess I have the same experience in this shop, possibly on Walter Rd. Went in on my way to another shop for work stuff. Found a bass I was really interested in. No one seemed to want to serve so I left. When I got to work I told the manager of our shop about how useless I thought they were. He happened to know the owner and gave him a call. I was offered a discount if I went back ( price agreed), and was told ask for the manager. When I got there he was out, this was twenty minutes later. Tried the bass and liked it. Told the staff that the manager had agreed a price of £179.00. They didn't question this and even threw in a strap of my choice. The bass was a Tokai Thunderbird priced in the shop at £329.00. If they had got it right on my first visit I would have paid the asking price.

He could probably make more on Facebook.

Old car sticker "KEEP YOUR DISTANCE" When I first saw this I was behind a car at traffic lights, when he pulled away I managed to stay three metres behind him for about half a mile to the next lights which we stopped at. He got out of his car and started having a go at me asking what on earth I was doing. I replied "I'm doing my best to keep my distance like your sticker demands" He was a bit flummoxed, the lights changed so I drove around him and went on my way. Just can't please some people!!!

I'd be glad to have a look at it for you. PM me for contact details.

Just love hearing a full orchestra live. I'm lucky, we two great venues in Cardiff, St David's Hall and the Wales Millenium Centre. On a funny note. I went to see/hear Stravinsky's Firebird suit. Which is one of my favourites. Just as the finale starts there is a forlorn note on the french horn, which always makes my arm hairs stand on end. As it was played I let out an overloud groan of satisfaction / pleasure. At the end the group of people in front of me turned around and said, " you really enjoyed that, didn't you" I could only agree and apologise. Even more, the performance was recorded. Later played on radio Wales, and the offending groan was audible. I didn't get on the credits though.

No replies for over day. I think you can award yourself a point. That's pretty obscure. Reveal and have another go.

My favourite piece is on Animusic 1. Harmonic Voltage. Awesome Taurus bass on it.

Just another thought. Have you tried using the Gallien Krueger for live work? Just noticed you are in SE Wales, I have a GK Fusion 550 Head, GLX 410 cab and a BLX 210 cab. GK 400RB 15 combo, you are welcome to try any of these if you wish.

Doing PA and playing on the same gig.....?
gelfin replied to Ashwood1985's topic in General Discussion
I run the PA at gigs because no one else knows how to work it. And its mine. We always have some followers who act as roadies and I am teaching one who is keen to run the desk. I use wireless for my bass and stand away using a headset mic to tell him what to adjust If it's a function guitarist does the disco and lights. So that just leaves the drummer!!! -
I've just had a CD playback on a £350,000 Hi-Fi system

Although this isn't a bass. Hugh Manson's wildest design of some 30 years ago
Nice design mate. I like how you offset the necks so that they lined up vertically in the playing possition.
Hi thank's but I have to confess it's not really my design. It's based on the Mouradian CS74. These are almost unobtainable so I thought I would make my own. However I got carried away when I couldn't decide on fretted or fretless.
