I used to make my own using my printer and decal paper. It's great for practising with and a lot less expensive. Next time you buy a decal, scan it at high resolution then use that as your template for printing onto the decal paper. You can print loads on a single A4 sheet of paper. Tip - Buy some clear gloss from Halfords and spray the cut out decal from the printed paper before dipping it in water to remove it otherwise the ink will run. Not as good as bought Decals but not a bad job either.
+1 to the clear gloss spray. Works fine for me.
How much does that bass weigh Sammy Spandex ?
Hi Debs don't know exactly but it is less than a Gibson 1275 twin neck. You can try it if we get the mini bass bash together.

I have all of them. Interestingly Geddy was, is on Radio 2 , Ken Bruce doing tracks of his years this week.
I'd be interested in a meeting at The Gower pub - I've been to a couple of music workshops there on a Sunday. Do you fancy having a double bass along for the ride? Plus if you want a drummer, I might be able to sweet talk my other half into coming along. We're not always around on Saturdays but would like the option. It would be great to meet you all.
Double bass is more than welcome. Extra drummer is welcome too.
Bashing sounds very good, I'll say yes to this. Count me in .
OK it sounds like this could be a goer. The Gower only has one room so a full bass bash could be a bit chaotic, but what the heck. Let me know how many are up for it and I will see if we can get it for a Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Also how would you like it to run. I.e. do we want (me) to invite other musicians, guitarist, drummer etc. Do we want a vocal PA. Bear in mind it's upstairs for carrying gear. How many would like to bring their own bass rigs. I have a Gallien Kreuger Fusion 550 head with 4x10 & 2x10 cabs. GK 400RB 15" combo

I fancy the Gower as it's only round the corner from me. A friendly place, good ale and not too crowded. The Claude open mic can be a bit chaotic and needs to be a practised band to get on. Wouldn't be a simply friendly get together. Also the Gower has a free function room upstairs, so we could arrange our own evening. I can supply some kit PA if needed drummers & guitarists amps etc. No audience at this unless we invite one.

How about we all meet up at one of these for a play and a beer
-
Another place I have just seen is Nos Da. Despenser St. Taff embankment. They do session nights and open mike.
-
Also The Claude Inn, Roath Cardiff has monthly open mic nights. http://www.sunsound.co.uk/ I think this guy organises it
-
Chris Squire on Heart of the sunrise does it for me.

There are many I haven't played but I would really like to play a Mouradian CS74

When you get your foam you might find the best way of cutting it is with an electric carving knife.

You can buy the correct transformer from Polar Audio. I have just done this with a USA 1001RB The replacement transformer has multi taps to suit all GK amps and costs around £80 http://www.polaraudio.co.uk/
All this makes me glad that by the time most bands have reached the level where they can play venues larger than Rock City here in Nottingham, the musical direction they have taken to get there means that I no longer have any interest in seeing them. Too much money for the tickets. Too few venues being played. All the venues are horrible enormodromes. And you have to sit in a seat. No thank you.
Last time I saw Rush at Birmingham I paid for a seat and couldn't sit in and see the band. Why do they bother to put in comfortable seats and then everyone stands up. Love the band but no way am I paying that much to not use the seat.

Funny things you've heard at a gig/soundcheck?
gelfin replied to krispn's topic in General Discussion
Our violin player hitting the stage floor with his chin as he couldn't risk putting his hands out to stop the fall as he was holding his very valuable violin in one and the expensive bow in the other. The crash sent a huuugge thump through the P.A.. and me and the drummer cracked up and the time wavered... When we played back the recording... we cracked up again..!!!
Saw Chris Squire do the same thing at Cardiff CIA. -
Covers bands "openers" what do you start with?

It could just be a loose connection which is affected by large cone excursions. Or an intermittent problem with one of the drivers voice coils.

Clive is still going at Nobles music in Whitchurch and is a good guy. Also a friend of mine Pete is an independent audio engineer based at Sevenoaks Hi fi shop at 134 Crwys Rd, Cathays, where I currently work. It will revert to being Audio-T very soon. He has looked after my kit for years as well as many others. It is best to get in touch with him first rather than just dropping in. Call him on 02921 660525 or try the shop number 02920 228565. Don't be put off by the Sevenoaks thing he has his own workshop separately, back from the days when we were Audio Excellence. He is not just confined to amps S state or valve. He is also very good on all electronic instruments. Needless to say I trust him completely with my kit and he has got me out of a fix many a time. If you can't get hold of Pete you can always pop in and ask for me, Nic Hawkins, it's always good to meet a fellow basschatter.

Try switching off any or all electrical appliances. Fridges/freezers can be notorious for this and be intermittent. Does it change when you touch the strings.

Entwistle - Won't Get Fooled Again - Isolated Bass
Pointless isolating anything by Entwhistle if you wanted to rip the line as he makes it all up as he goes along.
+1
