1. If you put something in make sure it can't move. If it rattled it would drive you nuts.

4. Typically Hi Fi speakers Ohm rating is "nominal" Impedence (ohms )will drop with rising volume and hi frequency content. I suggest that the Eltax spec means the highest and lowest values. So should cause no problems. My Apogee speakers are 3 Ohms nominal dropping to .5 Ohm at high volume.
5. On the flipside, I do like a bit of wood as in my Kramer LS8.
6. I guess we all have our preferences. I don't really have a favourite either way. Originally this build was going to be solid cream all over. My reason may be strange but it is this. For quite a few years I have tried to find a mouradian bass to buy. All way too expensive or tatty. I used to own a RIC CS limited edition. This. I had to sell it as I was made redundant just before my daughters wedding, so needed the funds. After playing Kerts Single cut Camphor, built by Andy. I was totally impressed with it. So much so I decided to ask Andy to build this for me. The Mouradian I couldn't buy and a nod (cream) to my ex CS. Not only that but a complete one off original. It was Andy's idea to leave the rear of the neck and control cover in their wood finish, and fair enough he is right. I'm not knocking either Monnbase or Grangur, I'm just explaining my choices. If we all agreed there wouldn't be anything to discuss.
7. To add insult to injury he tells me he doesn't play it. Only gets it out to show friends.
8. I can testify to how good FuNkShUi's single cut is. Played it at the last Cardiff bass bash and was totally blown away with it. So much so that I comissioned Andy to build me my "dream bass" It should be ready somewhere near the end of January, so will post the full story then.
9. A few years ago I was made redundant just as my daughters wedding was coming up. I had to sell my Ric CS. The guy who bought it promised that I would have first refusal if he ever sold it. He offered it back at twice the price I sold it.
10. Oh good grief that is brilliant. That cover has to remain like that .
11.
Thanks, Stuart. So am I
So am I. So much so that I sometimes go to the start of the thread and read it all again. 12.
Coming on a treat....Nic must be having a breakdown having to watch and wait..
Not quite a breakdown, but I am amazed at the patience I am having.
13. If it opens and closes OK, 0.0.0. is probably the default number. Anyway, if you close it and move the numbers and it won't open you could treat it as a Christmas puzzle. Not to many permutations there.

15.
I was doing a 'basschat helping other basschat members' stint today, helping to bring a lovely early 70's Precision back to life The DiMarzio Model One should arrive tomorrow, so there might be a bit more progress before MrsAndyjr1515 insists that I take the rapidly approaching festivity preparations seriously
I think a break for Christmas is perfectly justified Andy.
16.
Love that headstock design.
We thank you.
17. The real truth why I asked Andy to do this build is twofold. 1. I couldn't possibly build a neck accurately enough, let alone the fretting. I used donor necks on my builds. Because of this I had bolt on necks. I prefer through neck. 2. I played Kerts Camphor single cut at the last S Wales Bass Bash and was blown away with how good it is. As for sanding in the awkward spaces I used a power finger sander. Something like this. Additionally, the finish on my builds does not stand up to scrutiny of well lit photography. 20ft away on a dark stage is fine.
18. No rush for Christmas. It will be ready when it is. Even I can be patient for this. Having said that I have already been playing it................. In my mind, and it sounds awesome there. 19. I've been using one of these for years. Fantastic bit of kit even if the tech is a little old by todays standards. A bargain at this price.
20. Another reason for not having the Smoothhound fully enclosed is that I often swap basses so it would be a bit difficult. Also I want to be able to to use a conventional cable. I case of battery issues etc.
21. I had thought of fully enclosed. Chris from Smoothound offered to send (sell) me the bare electronics for this along with wiring diagrams and a surface mount momentary switch with status Led. However I do prefer what Andy has illustrated, which is what I had in mind from the outset. I made a similar recess for the jack socket on the twin neck version. Having said all that I really do appreciate all input and suggestions / ideas etc. Also I am beginning to feel like an expectant father to be. Just like when my kids were gestating.
22. Hi Andy That's exactly what I meant. Either way up is fine with me, so whatever is best for you to make. Having said that the way it is in the pic would make wiring easier. Also I have no problem with having the button quite high.
23.
Gelfin, your 'sketch;'powers are better than mine. My variant was totally enclosed inside the body with a second jack socket to the outside world. Sketches have been pmd to Andy.
Being totally enclosed would make it a bit difficult to switch on and off. The Smoothound symbol on the transmitter is the switch.
