My band buddies always notice if I bring in a new bass and sometimes on how it sounds , one of the guitar players always has a big smile if I bring in my black 80s ibanez roadstar 2 , says he loves the sound and look of it , must admit it does sound great but just nice to have a change and experiment with different bass's

I have one for ease of grab when the urge takes me by the side of the computer , do worry about it coming off though but all ok so far rty

What settings do you go with ? I am playing with my jazz bzss atm but i am am so crap at knowing what sounds best ,and sometimes the sound doesn't seem to cut through the mix live , I normally go with mid halfway bass halfway treble half , and gain 3 . I know a lot depends on lots of different things , room size etc etc but just looking for some sort of yard stick really

I always thought the pickups should be a set distance from the strings , well that's what it says on my Haynes manual anyway ! Although I have only used this as a rough guide and have gone more by what I hear , I noticed if one is too close to the strings you get some strange muffled sounds !

My antoria jazz is bound in black with black block inlays and it still has side markers

Well just fitted a new pots and wiring to my lovely old antoria jazz courtesy of kiogon(,cheers mate) as the tone control was a bit iffy and wow! i really can`t believe the difference in sound it has made overall , its not something i would of thought about changing if it hadnt been for the tone issue, but before i was thinking about changing pickups but now i dont think i will even bother doing that as its sounding lovely and warm and much fuller now . Anyone else done this and been suprised? and how can it make such a difference ?

Got my new jazz pots and wiring off john and he was very helpful and gave some great advice and an overall nice guy to deal with really! I would recommend dealing with him any day, cheers old chap gav o yes annd thanks for the chocys
