1. Just had a warmoth delivery! About to get started on this beast! 2.
Alternative to the most excellent John East gear might be an Audere Classic. These are very compact indeed. http://www.audereaudio.com/Classic2.htm#ordering
Those are compact! And reasonably priced as well, I'll have to have a look into them thanks.
  3. Yea I could just use the control plate! Not sure why I didn't think of that. Ideally I would like one with no switches but I could be persuaded.
  4. Hello, I'm looking at building a precison bass special relic but I still want the active circuitry. The Fender pictured has an active circuitry but still has a standard routing with a battery compartment. Does anyone know of a 4 knob preamp I could get to fit in standard precision routing with a battery compartment? Thanks, Adam
  5. AHHHHH NO!!! I hope you get it sorted! Its looking lovely! Cant wait to see it.
  6. I bought a gold pickguard from Paul and it was a pleasure doing business with and got it in the post super quick. Thanks Paul.
  7. Made a deal on some Hipshot tuners, and the transaction was fast and smooth with great updates on postage etc. pleasure doing business with you Ollie. Thanks.
  8. I really want to buy this, just dont have the funds right now...such a bargain!
  9. Great build, with some great tips. I want to do a similar bass but in seafoam green, but I am a sucker for Olympic White and a tort pickguard. Its starting to look ace.
  10. Yea it does look lovely. I was engineering The Real Thing Saturday and the bassist had the fiesta red version and it sounded lovely, so was intrigued to see of any were available. I think the alignment issue would bug me after a while. Looks like you got a bighter any way. Good luck with it.
  11. Hello, possibly interested in the bass. Looks really nice. I'd love an original like that but just too many pennies. My only concern is that the string spacing looks narrow compared to most jazzes and the strings don't look like they sit in the middle of the neck. Is this something you have changed for the narrow spacing? Thanks.
  12. I replaced my Hartke driver with one of these and it's never sounded so good, It's a really nice sounding speaker. Have a bump on me.
  13. Scratch plate looks great. Good luck with the sale. Have a bump on me.
  14.
[sup]Ahh that's beautiful. a fine piece of work. Now I want one. Enjoy mate you deserve it.[/sup]
Thanks, such a good feeling when you plug it in for the first time!
Im not a big fan of the straight grain either but yours works A
Yea, its not for everyone generally, but I've always had a bit of a thing with zebra wood. I've also just noticed I wrote Warwickshire instead in warwicks! Haha sorry!
  15.
Thanks for replying. It gives me something to think about. I like everything about this build. Well done and thanks for sharing.
No problem, I'd definitely recommend it. The quality if warmoth stuff is second to none. I'm already thinking about my next one. I fully recommend doing it. You could finish one for a little cheaper if you got different hardware etc, I kind went all out/a little over the top with it. Haha I think it's paid off though.
It is very nice indeed Like the wood grain and finish - excellent job there A 5 string J/MM is a cool mix to. A
I originally wanted a grain with more of a standard subtle grain, but I'm pleased I got something a little different. I have two Warwickshire with twin jazz pickups and I really like the streamer jazzman, so was kind of inspired by that. It's a great combination.
  16.
It looks fantastic. Well done. What was the total cost?
My mother taught me not to ask those kind of questions....only kidding. I've not added it all up, but was best part of £1000-£1100 including materials.
Excellent job! That's a seriously pretty looking bass. How does it perform?
It sounds incredible, and plays well coincidering its not been set up. Once its set up, I reckon it it will sing!
Looks awesome!
Thanks, a lot of time went into this...haha
The bass looks stunning! You have done well. How did you resolve the bridge ground wire problem?
Thanks, warmoth told me it should just be a single hole drilled straight through, but something was blocking it. If I could drill from the cavity end I would've been able to dislodge it, but I ended up having to drill another hole. No biggy i suppose.
  17. So its all built, and it sounds amazing! Still needs some tweaking to make it play how i want it to, but heres some photos; Thanks to all who helped. Let me know what you all think.
  18.
These are the ones. Ive used all mine up soz or I would have sent you one. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c349d6cad Work perfect and hold the battery like a vice. A
Ah thats cracking! thanks! I'll get it ordered. Cheers.
  19. Been pretty busy trying to get this together. I've managed to line the cavity with copper foil and get the pickups hooked up and soldered all the electrics. Went to plan really, only got the pickups the wrong way round at first but was an easy fix. I just need a way to hold the battery on its side in the top left corner of the cavity. The only holder like this I can fine seems to be by Warwick, anyone know of any similar that a re a bit easier to get posted? My only issue is that the ground for the bridge doesn't seem to be drilled properly and the holes have been started at both ends but don't seem to meet in the middle. Anyone had any issues similar to this?
