1. Great that was my plan. I've done it on my fretless jazz build, just wasn't sure how effective it is. Cheers.
2.
Yep and you need to connect the copper tape to the ground via a wire too It's looking amazing!
Thanks, I know I take a ground to the copper in the control cavity, but not sure how i would connect to the copper in the pickup cavity? Or will the pickups being screwed into the copper connect it all up? Or is it not really going to do much? Oh, and They're both noise cancelling pickups of that changes anything. Cheers
3. A quick update! About 10 coats of tru oil later and it's all done. Got the nordstrand pickup in today, and shielded the control and pickup cavities. Do you need to connect the control cavity and the pickup cavities with a wire or will the pickups connect them all up? I'm off to play golf for 3 days then I'm camping in the lakes so won't be able to do much in the next week, but here's a quick one pick of where I'm up. This should come together pretty quick now.

7. Sorry the one I meant is Koa over mahogany, but already has a finish on that I'd like to do myself.
8. Do you know what...I was literally looking at one of those! I was going to go for mahogany/alder/ash with a Koa top. Wish they had a few more in the gecko model to chose from, and the all Koa body is a little over budget! Ha
9. Thanks for the reply. I love in depth replies to posts. I'd not thought of walnut for a body. Any particular reason (tone wise) they use walnut for their fretless basses? I'm looking to finish this bass with tru oil like my other build. Well...assuming the other one goes well I suppose. My main worry with mahogany is the weight, but sould I just get and it and deal with it becaus its what I'm drawn to for some reason. I mean, i won't be doing 2 hour gigs with it any time soon. I was mainly looking at mahogany or alder as the last warmoth build is ash and I fancied something different, but I'm open to going with the same combination. I've got a Warwick corvette standard with swamp ash body, Wenge neck and Wenge fingerboard, and I love the sound of that, hence why my deluxe jazz has the same woods. I'll be using warmoth parts and getting hardware from various places. I will build a scratch build one day, I'm slowly building up the tools. And I've just moved to a new house with a garage which I plan to put in a workbench, can't wait for that!
10. Sorry about the lack of posts on this. I have recently moved house and have been spending lots of my time trying to sort the house out rather than build this beautiful bass, but now the house is getting there its back to it! I have given up on the Z poxy, it looked great but just decided against it. I also decided not to go for a gloss nitro finish and go with a tru oil matt look instead. I have stripped it all right back to wood again and I have sanded it up to 400 grit. I'm waiting on some nice wet and dry from stewmac to carry on going up to 800 grit, then its on with the tru oil. so when that arrives, ill be back with updates on how that's going. Thanks.
11. Hello, I'm looking at building a warmoth Gecko 5 string fretless with a Wenge neck and an ebony fingerboard. Not sure what body wood to go for. I like the idea of mahogony, and I've heard some great fretless basses made from it, I just think it might weigh a lot by the end. Tone wise I'm after a nice solid fretless tone with nice pop and plenty of mwah that everyone is looking for in a fretless. I know a lot of the tone comes from the player, just want to have the right wood to help with achieving the right tone. Let me know your thoughts? Thanks.
12. Yea, I've been talking to Sarah from randystraps.com and we're coming up with a design to go with the warmoth. Quite excited to see the end result. Ill post pics when it arrives.
13. Hey thanks for the post. This was kinda scary because I've not thought about a strap since...well may and I was just sat in my Garden with my girlfriend and she can't think of something to get me for my birthday. All of a sudden though, I thought, "I know I nice bass strap". So I looked at my old post and found a new comment on it posted around the same time as i thought of it...Thats scary!! Any way I'd like to get a custom made one, I'd quite like a brown leather one as well.
14. I think I've decided to refinish my Warwick corvette standard 1998 (4 string) and I was wondering if anyone fancies swapping some black hardware for my chrome hardware. All hardware is in good condition. If I can trade hardware I might do it...just can't decide if its sacrilege or not....any thoughts welcome. Attached a pic of what I might go for. Cheers,
15. I'd sell my corvette 4 string for this but would be a little short! Hmmmm....Lovely looking bass.
16. Haha Yea that should be short enough! I'm quite liking the barefoot straps, one in a dark brown would be ideal. Might even get a name pit on it. Can't decide if it's cheesy or not...
17.
I am only 5"8 and have the same issue. I find a 'short' Comfort Strapp on the shortest setting is okay for me. According the the internet their shortest is 33" which is just under 84cm so might be your best bet.
How do your find the comfort strap? I have looked at them, but not sure about them. Those barefoot straps look great, might drop him a message to see if you he can do one with a slightly different brown. Any others?
18. Hi, I've been looking to get a nice strap for my warmoth I'm currently building, and can't seem to find one that goes short enough. I'm looking for one that goes to about 83cm. I where it high and I'm only 5' 7. I've looked at bear straps and randy straps and the don't really grab my fancy, and i like the Minotaur straps, but they dont go short enough. Anyone know any makes that I should look at? Cheers.
19. Well congratulations dude. I was toying with selling my stage 2 and getting a stage 1...but I don't think I can part with it. Id love to have both. I was playing around on an ibanez 6 string in PMT manchester, and its made me quite want a 6 string now.
