Gazunt
Hi there I'am Gaz and ive been playing bass for around two years I started playing bass with a Scheter damien 4 and since have bought a 1994 fender p bass a aerodyne fender jazz. And next week I am expecting the arrival of my new musicman stingray. I play in a band with my mates in our spare time. Now I know there is no real need to buy a new bass with the stingray coming next friday but since ordering the sting ray I have seen a G&L L1500 that I really like the look of now the guy selling it says its a usa and he says I can take it off his hands for £650 and I know the tributes go for around this money. So ive tried lookin up the L1500 an i cant find it to buy in the uk online for love nor money. now for the question Is there any g&L players out there that can point out any pointers that i should look out for when i go to view the bass on thursday that will tell me its a usa and not an tribute? I mean is it as eays as a big made in usa badge am looking for cheers guys

Machines
Did they do any Tribute 1500s ? I thought it was the twin pickup versions only. EDIT: See here for model list - http://www.glguitars.com/Tribute/instruments/index.asp. That tells me a L1500 has to be a USA version. It will say Tribute on the headstock if it is one by the way

Offer him £550.
haha I'd feel well cheeky doing that it was on a buy it now on ebay for £799 with a make a offer option but ive been watching it for 3 months since I ordered the stingray an it hasnt gone yet so i talked him into taking it off ebay untill friday untill ive been and had a look thought id done well to get £150 off the asking price. tbh i have no idea how much these go for 2nd hand but in my local guitar shop they have a usa ASAT at £1700 which made me think the 650 was a bit of a no brainer and should snap his hand off. Would you guys say its good value. I mean in my local guitar shop ive played the tribute L200 an did think it was nice but i guess it comes down to personal taste but i just dont wanna get ripped off buying a guitar through ebay because £650 is the dearest thing i will of bought on ebay. thanks for the reply seems like a good forum site glad i came across it
Muzz
Hi Mate, If by your local shop you mean PMT, bear in mind they've got a 4003 in there for an eye-watering £1999, so they're not exactly cheap. It does look very nice, though, and, like folk round here who know more than me, I've never heard of or seen a Tribute 1500. It's certainly worth a look, anyway. Do You work there you pic looks familier? 2K is outta my price range with the order of the stingray at £1360. but i thought that this was well worth a look tbh ive only just heard of G&L in may because while on my honeymoon in may to california i tried to get a sting ray over there for cheaper but to find it in the colours i wanted was a needle in a haystack and a guy in obispo mention g&l an told me about the history and have since bought the george fulerton book an being that ive got to fenders i thought g&l could only be on par if not better than fenders Edited August 23, 2010 by Gazunt
