E.g. your videos is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK9QVN0bpa4 You need the code from "v=". Then you enter: [yootube]AK9QVN0bpa4[/yootube] But with "yootube" spelt correctly. Spelt correctly, it's: Reply to this post, and you'll see all the codes I use. purpleblob Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Sorry if these have been shown as youtube clips or the likes (I cannot see youtube clips at work ) Pretty much anything by Go West. How's about, I'm gonna tear your playhouse down by Paul Young (there's a bit of a theme with these two ). Someone else mentioned Too Shy by Kajagoogoo, I always liked Duran Duran's Save a Prayer. I suppose you could say Level 42 did pop (or am I pushing it), so Hot Water (I don't think I'll get away with Mr Pink ). Oh wait, can I say Chic are pop, if so then ofcourse Le Freak and Good Times EDIT: Hmm just re-read the OP, maybe these were all bad choices as I don't think they "throwaway light confection" songs Edited August 25, 2010 by purpleblob Quote
Bassassin Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I think it's fair to say there was some outstanding bass playing in quite a lot of 80s chart-botherers. What went wrong? J. Quote
skej21 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) This is a classic. And the added bonus of Pino playing the live version. Quality! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYRmQRtS3cw Edited August 25, 2010 by skej21 Quote

risingson Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 A big +1 for all the Justice and Simian bass lines, those guys have great sensibilities when it comes to bass. Quote

Kiwi Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 +1 on Kylie's Fever tour - some killing bass lines there esp Kids Are Alright, Love At First Sight and Come Into My World Open Letter To A Landlord - Living Colour Wonderful Life - Black/Colin Vearcombe Seal - Self titled album (Doug Wimbish ripping the book up on that one) Level 42 up to about 1988 (sorry, they lost it after that) Abba (Rutger Gunnarsson on bass) Some Lisa Stansfield stuff is good and pretty much anything with Paul Young and Pino on No Parlez
What went wrong?
Grunge and Indie Quote
xgsjx Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I always liked the bass line to Sugar Daddy by Tori Amos, simple but very groovy. Tina Weymouth is a poptastic bassist too so my shout goes for Talking Heads - Slippery People (I know, they have tons of great basslines. but everyone knows this one). Quote
Spoombung Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I've always thought this was a fine Pop bassline Quote
