Something about it does not seem right.
I am not a big vintage expert especially with Fenders but it just looks wrong to me.

Any suggestions?

Did Fender split the logo like that on 70s basses? I know some 60s ones differ but I'm not "absaloutly" sure they did come the late 70s. If it is genuine I'd want a LOT more detail. He talks most about his M4 Corridor man journey!

Just been googling!
Looks like left handed basses did have the split/opposite decal......I learn something everyday....its ugly though :)

And also looks like '78 was the transition back to 4 bolt!

Looks right to me. I have three (4th on the way) 78´s. The lefty logo from around 76-79/81 (muddy dating period sometimes) was a different story to the righties. Its a split logo, so that the Fender logo could match up with the bottom of the headstock more evenly, or so I´ve read.
Though I imagine thats not the original pickguard-most likely it was black.

Didn't sell then? My 78 is an awesome P-bass and I know of a few that are - directly contradicting the theory that they were all dogs. Didn't know that on the split logos on the left handed ones. A bit more info from the seller and this would've sold
