Tokai jazz sound....

Hey

wee question... how much does a 80's tokai jazz sound (jazz bass) go for? I've looked all over the net and can't really work out the going rate. The last few on here seem to be going at around £400 mark.

any advice? (there is a reason! )

no adivce? its just im going to go look at one tomorrow in light blue priced at 350 and want to know if that is too steep or not!

I can't help specifically, but have you checked ebay *completed* auction prices? That should give you a max price level.

Tokai makes quality instruments, from the same factory as Fender in China, before your second post I was acutally thinkg that £350 would be a fair price and you beat me to it, if the conditions are good and it plays well you're on to a winner

The '80s ones certainly won't be Chinese-made, I'm fairly certain they were only manufacturing in Japan back then (although they might have started doing some stuff in Korea by the end of the decade); if it's in decent nick I'd say £300-350 ish would be a good price.

Sh|t I meant to type Japan not China, you're right. But yes £350 is a decent price depending on the condish.

I'm sure there was a Japanese Tokai Jazz on ebay about a week ago for £400 (Buy it now), so £350 private seems fair.

£350 seems right to me,if it's in good condition.'80's Tokais are Japanese made and very high quality,although I have no idea what the body wood is.Compared to an equivalent Fender they're a lot lighter.
