throwoff
I love my RockBass Corvette as it is my only 5 string and it gives a great sound but I am not a fan of the Chrome Hardware. Incoming I have - Black Warwick heads Black Knobs Black Schaller 3D bridge. (TBH nothing wrong with the Warwick 1 piece but figured I may as well upgrade!) I shall hopefully have it all delivered when I get in tonight if not tomorrow. Will post pics of the rebirth! For now a terrible camera phone pic of the bass in its current set up. throwoff
Looks like stuff didn't arrive today! On the upside I fixed my proper camera so I can actually take some half decent shots!
GarethFlatlands
You going to replace the placcy bridge?
throwoff
I think the stock bridge is pretty sound but I am putting a Schaller 3D on! I have some mad ideas for this, thinking about putting a 3 band MEC EQ in and then either Duncans or Bartolinis. Also a huge part of me wants to sand off the finish and oil it but I am not sure I am brave enough, the flame maple is only a thin veneer (5mm I believe) and I wouldnt want to get over zealous and wreck it! throwoff
So here we go! First off were the knobs and strap pins Next the Bridge And Machineheads At this point I took the oppertunity to Lemon oil the board and give the whole thing a decent polish. throwoff
New Machine heads on a nice polished stock Everything else on! (A damn sight cleaner!) Restrung! The whole thing needs a set up and the spacing arranged but It had been tuned up with a high C for some time so I am leaving it overnight to let it settle with the tension of a B and will begin the set up tomorow evening, followed by another good clean! Personally I think it looks 100% better now!
EdwardHimself
Nice. The black hardware is a big improvement imo.
throwoff
I think so, I was slightly 50/50 when it all arrived but now it's on I love it!
Brave Sir Robin
Dunno why Warwick persists with chrome hardware. Black is much better with wood grain.
Dread Bass
I did the same with my corvette 6 and the difference was night and day imo. I am tempted to do it to the fortress too. I have never got round to it. Good job looks much better with the black.
