Mog Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) Following on from the basses you want to love but cant thread, whats you're go to brand? The stand you go to first in a store or outlet. I usually head straight to the Yamaha basses. Edited August 31, 2010 by Mog Quote
thisnameistaken Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I don't go to guitar shops and I don't feel any desire to align myself with a brand. Quote

spinynorman Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 On the rare times I go in guitar shops I come out appalled by the overpriced junk on sale and head back to ebay, where my saved searches are Fender, Guild/DeArmond, Hagstrom and a composite search labelled Japcrap. Quote
wateroftyne Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) I don't do shop visits anymore, either. No shops round here stock anything I'm interested in. Ebay or buy online for me. Edited August 31, 2010 by wateroftyne Quote
waynepunkdude Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Always get drawn to a Fender Jazz, it's just the standard. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Err Stingrays! then the Fenders then I get a bit stuck. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I hang around in my local shop because I'm friends with the owner but in terms of bass shopping I prefer secondhand Fenders & unusual older stuff. I'm not in the market for anything right now though so it's only really passing attention at most from me Quote
Colledge Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) edit: sh*t posted in the wrong thread. ha Edited August 31, 2010 by Colledge Quote

skej21 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 ANYTHING with block inlays. Like a moth to a flame... Quote
Bassassin Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I tend to wander past the [s]massed ranks[/s] half a dozen basses, scanning for the unusual, the esoteric, the exotic and the interestingly vintage. Following that, I walk out, my stature fractionally but tangibly diminished by the incrimentally increasing weight of the burden of disappointment. Basses? In shops? How quaint. Jon. Quote
goblin Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I don't to be honest as I don't like buying new, but I'll go and have a general browse to see if there's anything of interest. Then I end up looking at amps Quote
ObscureRyan Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Always look at Fender first by habit. Then i look at the lower end basses to see which ones i can pimp out. the Ampeg ADA4 Dan Armstrong bass always catches my eye too, i will own one of those one day Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The cheapest they have, and then if they are any good, I go and try and find them cheaper elsewhere. Quote
Randy_Marsh Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 the most expensive first, because its the only time ill probably ever play them. Then the squires or ibanez's Quote
risingson Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Don't like going into regular guitar shops much because most places don't stock much I'd be very interested in, although I still do it from time to time. I love Fender's, particularly older ones now so I'll always gravitate a little towards them but like I say, incredibly specific kinds of a certain age. Quote
Lozz196 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Fender, on both basses, and guitars, followed by Gibson on guitars. I`m very traditional. Quote
