Just so many wrongs with this one that it isn't worth starting but it'd be interesting to know if he is the liar or the shop that robbed him 30 years ago!

I reckon anyone who buys a CS fender should get what looks like a fake decal put on, wrong scratchplate and a dodgy neck plate.

It's a thing that lazy & ignorant people say, based on the fact the words are spelled similarly and it's way too much effort to bother differentiating them.

Regrettably, there's no need to browse eBay for signs of illiteracy; there's plenty of that MUCH closer to home.

At least some people suffer from genuine (and understandable) confusion regarding [i]brought [/i]and [i]bought[/i], or whether or not [b][i]it's[/i][/b] should have an apostrophe.

What really upsets me is where the supposed homophone isn't even vaguely defensible, as in [i]Where playing a gig tonight![/i]

The trouble is, the libertarian in me recognises that the purpose of communication is to get your message across, and if I understand what was said then presumably that's a piece of successful communication.

I don't think there is as much poor grammer as there is bad typing and worserer proof reading.

I find that I often type the wrong word because my finger/muscle memory overides my conscious thought processes. However hard I try, I always type would as woudl and the as teh. I am sure there are many others but, in a nutshell, secretarial skills are no longer a specialism for which a small group of individuals are trained but an expectation of everyone. We all learn to type 'on the hoof' now and not in a systematic way and, whaddaya know, we are all found wanting.

I definitely agree with you about the proof reading.

It's staggering how often people seem so desperate to hit the Return key that they clearly haven't paused to read what they have written.

You didn't mention the poor spelling, though, which presumably explains the "grammer".
