Most of the early stuff by The Undertones, such as Teenage Kicks, Jimmy Jimmy, Here Comes The Summer, My Perfect Cousin etc.

For recent songs, Smile & LDN by Lily Allen.

One Day Like This - Elbow

It really is, in my eyes, one of the greatest songs ever! Always puts a smile on my face and makes me appreciate all the good things in my life whenever I feel there aren't any. Love it.
Isley Brothers - Summer Breeze - instant feelgood tune
Wonderful song. Along with "Harvest for the World"

I am going to give my age away but here goes with my personal choice.

"Good Golly Miss Molly" Little Richard. Probably the best Rock n Roll record ever.

"Dream Lover" Bobby Darin. Fabulous voice.

"Peggy Sue" Buddy Holly. Add anything this man did to the list.

"Romeo and Juliet" Dire Straits. Just a class record.

"In Dreams" Roy Orbison. Elvis said he had the best voice ever. I aint going to Argue with him.

"Summer of 69" Brian Adams. Best live show I have ever seen.

Many, many more. In fact I have'nt scratched the surface, but then again I have heard some great music in 63 years. Not even mentioned all the newer stuff I like.

Grandad Paul.
this is some of the music that (ok its cheesy) makes me feel good, and gets me out of a bad mood.., and when im pissed off i can listen to makes me feel better....maybe an excuse to play some music i love..

This woman is my go to music for most of my lifes soundtrack...never mind being pissed off...

Anita Baker..Same ole Love...Check the understated Nathan East Slap bass...wonderfull stuff....Im sur Pete and Molan will love this one..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9dytLAEPYE

A bit of Floyd....i cant put into words how good this track is...they always blow me away..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUDpc04r_QM

.i used to sit on Bournemouth beach late at night and listen to this song...

George Benson...

This is just incredible...mesmerising song by Prince..i can never get over how talented this guy is..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRC6LNnlxVA...feature=related

The bass in this Diana Ross track is slick...love the ghost notes comin up to the chorus....
Great thread!

Can't believe there's someone else out there who loves 'Strollin' by Prince; it's just a great, uplifting song and so, so effortless! In the same kind of vein, I definitley love clauster's choice of The Isley Brothers 'Summer Breeze'...

+1 for 'One Day Like This' by Elbow, but also, there are two other amazing songs on that album that have a similar effect for me; 'Starlings' and 'Mirrorball'..It's a modern-day classic album for sure!

And being a bit random, but does anybody else like 'Ventura Highway' by America? It's a song that song always lifts my spirits and has a really cool old skool bass sound as well.. :)

christ I love this band and this song
Haven't heard an awful lot by this band. I was expecting something similatr to:
SHAAAARK SHAAARK SHOVE IT AAAAAAAAAARRGH etc.
This seems weak in comparison.Sorry. Is it the same band I'm talking about? :)

I don't really have bad moods but Richard Harris' "MacArthur Park" always makes me smile, and you can't beat Willie Nelson "Bring Me Sunshine" go on, try humming a few bars with a straight face!

Unsurprisingly, this one has not been mentioned so far....

+1 for the Gino Vannelli and Go West tracks.

On a different slant, another tune that never fails to lift my spirit is one of my fave TV theme tunes ever...ever...
Man, I just love that walkin' bass and strings! :)

Nice (and not in a sarcastic, jazz club way)! Reminds me, the whole of Frank Sinatra's Songs for Swinging Lovers always makes me very happy.
