MoonBassAlpha Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Sikamikanico by RHCP. Gotta love the punky half-time/full on thing! Not one of their best known offerings (B-side of Under the Bridge 12") but it is in Wayne's World briefly, so you will have heard a bit of it. Quote
Low End Bee Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Have we had 'Generation X - Dancing With Myself' yet? Works very well with that. Quote

Same goes for Alan Lancaster & a fair swedge of Roger Glover. The rest of the band can rock, but only we can make it roll. P.
Roger Glover mainly root notes? you're kidding right? velvetkevorkian Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Midlife Crisis by Faith No More- it's got a great driving pulse. Quote
Dave Vader Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Sly and the Family Stone, most of it. Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 One I heard in the shop today- 'Aisha' by Death In Vegas (feat Iggy Pop)- there is one note that's not the root but it's pretty much just an articulation. Quote

spinynorman Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 In American Idiot, I have an insane, irresistable urge to do a cheesey country & western style walk up to the D in the middle of the chorus. I can usually hold out till the guitar break, then I just have to let it go. Probably irritates our guitarist, but he never says. Actually more likely never notices. Quote
mep Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 The Ramones version of What A Wonderful World is a driving 8th note root bass line, best played with a pick. That was the last time I came across such a song, to play at least. It is an exercise in restraint and aiming to get all the notes played with a consistant feel. Quote
