carlc64
Hi all, I've been on talkbass for awhile and just discovered this board thanks to a UK member there. I'm moving to London (from Philadelphia) next week to work & take up a PhD in Engineering at Imperial. I've been playing guitar & bass since I was a kid -- mostly prog rock & jazz & some classical on guitar, and jazz & funk & prog rock on bass. I'm currently debating whether I should bring a bass over or whether it's simpler to just buy one in London (I already have a lot of stuff e.g. personal effects to bring on the plane!) I'd also love to join a band either as guitarist or bassist but not sure if the London music scene is 99% DJ's now (that's how it is on the US east coast unfortunately). carlc64
Hi, thanks, yeah I hope I'll have better luck in London with bands -- video killed the radio star - and DJ's killed the bass star! ;-)
Lozz196
Welcome to Basschat. +1 on there being plenty of bands around the London area. If yr looking for a bass, try the For Sale section on here before venturing into the shops, huge variety/very good deals about, and in my experience, it has been very straightforward to buy/sell on here.
