Kiwi Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Its very 'pretty', I wouldn't say its beautiful though. Quote
Musicman20 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I've seen that new DJ replacement. Looks like a weird Jaguar. I still want a JO4 or 5. Quote
AndyTravis Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 used to be a similar ESP Japan only model Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 look ok...I think the colour and scratch plate are trying too hard tho. Quote

ezbass Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 It's all very bling, not for me but I'm sure someone will like it, either that or these will be going very cheap in the not too distant future. Quote
The Burpster Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 colour - disgusting! bridge - looks cheap! Other than that it looks superb! If it was natural finish with a Hipshot bridge (and blk hardware) I'd probably be dribbling on my keypad! Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010
look ok...I think the colour and scratch plate are trying too hard tho.
Agreed. Keep the colour, have a plain scratchplate (or none/clear) and change the hardware to black or chrome. It'd be better then. But maybe I should be quiet, given that I own this; Quote
Musicman20 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Its a USA model only isnt it? Im glad to see they are progressing as a company. Despite my issues with some of the Skylines I tested, I still have faith they can make fantastic basses, (more so the Jazzes). Quote
sockdeluxe_mikey Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I'm really confused - how did you find that page if it hasn't appeared on the product index on the main website? And I'm going to possibly put my reputation on the line here by saying that I could really see myself owning that WHAT a passionate looking instrument! I think it is probably a bit over the time for what some people want in aesthetics, but I personally really love it. Quote
Musicman20 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Its on the front page of their site right now Quote
sockdeluxe_mikey Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Although I do also think that it would have actually benefitted with not having a scratchplate...? Seems to break up the look of it a little on this particular instrument? And you would be right Musicman20, just spotted it Edited September 11, 2010 by sockdeluxe_mikey Quote

Musicman20 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 My god they dont waste time with new colours! I still like the new Teal Ltd editions. Quote

sockdeluxe_mikey Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Coming from the owner of a black 44-01... Dayamn. Those blue 44-01/55-01's look lovely! I bought my one with disregard to colour because I specifically was not caring for looks and caring for sound and playability, but I have still thought it would have been nice to have some other colour option (the standard sunburst and natural 44-01/55-01 finishes are also lovely too, but alas they didn't have any of those when I bought mine). Edit: Although when I have had the instrument for quite a few years, I will definitely consider giving it a 'birthday' refinish Edited September 11, 2010 by sockdeluxe_mikey Quote
Musicman20 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Totally off topic, but still on. Everyone knows I like the neck on these basses. I went to try new stock today. It ticked almost every box....almost. Quite light, lovely rosewood board, striking paint colour, excellent neck join. What let it down? Really bad routing of the bridge pup. The G string was nowhere near the centre of the pole pieces. I dont just mean a bit off, I mean totally off. It was obvious when I solo'd the back pickup. The volume dropped. Looking at the other stock they had, there were some others the same, and some were spot on. Clearly its been put in wrongly like Dave's Fender Jazz. I class this as a shame because they make great necks. I do think I prefer the days when they were a smaller outfit and didnt have the Hanson pups. Edited September 11, 2010 by Musicman20 Quote
BigRedX Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 That's fairly conservative when compared with Tetsuya's other basses. Quote
