Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of making a replica of the famous 59 Herbie Flowers jazz bass. I'm trying to get hold of as many hi res images of the bass as possible. If anybody has any I could use it would be much appreciated :)

BTW I already have the Curtis Novak images.

thanks guys

Wes

Maybe if you contacted Herbie he'd let you take as many pics as you liked while you're examining his bass in every detail and taking measurements.

Cheers, do you have a contact? I have measurements/templates etc from an original 1960, just need more pix of the wear really, tho have got most of it covered.

I don't have a contact but by all accounts he is fairly approachable. Someone here must have a method of contacting him.

Walman, EBS freak or Silverfoxnik might have details. I've got Herbies email but never had a reply. I suspect calling him might be better. Would love to see the result of your work though Wes, I've hankered after a replica of his bass for a long time, especially if you can get the LPB finish oxidised properly.

Try and found out what the deal is with the moved bridge, while you're at it? I'm guessing its got something to do with intonating those big fat roto strings....

The paint job should be fun!

Just as an interesting point I have a primitive fuzz circuit swith made for this already so will come with the bass for the more daring bassists out there!

Believe it or not, he is actually around the Shoreham-by-Sea (even Brighton area) quite a great deal, and I woudn't be surprised if you could work out a way of meeting him personally. He has done jazz clinics in Shoreham Ropetackle centre (which I bloody missed due to being away) so it's definitely possible!

Yeah hes around Brighton alot, since he lives about 10 minutes away!

Lovely fella, Plux may have some piccies, having played it extensively for a week earlier this year....
