clean orange terror bass

does the orange terror bass do a clean sound and how well does it do it ?

It can do, by turning the Gain way down and the volume way up ... but that's rather missing the point. That gritty, tube-driven sound is exactly what the Bass Terror is all about.

I'm about to receive one and very excited about it.

I currently have an Ashdown Little Bastard, which has no gain control and is very gritty, and solved the problem here by changing the preamp valves from ECC83's to ECC81's, which lowered the gain.

If the Orange proves a bit drivey for me (I really don't think it will) I'll swap the valves over for ECC81's

An idea for you though, if you don't want a griity sound.

Yeah it cleans up, with quite a but of headroom too. I have my gain on about 3 or just above depending on bass, higher output basses will be harder to get a clean tone out of as the gain will be so low as to lower the volume considerably.

Well its a 500watt amp so aslong as you aren't overloading the preamp it'll do clean and loud pretty well

Yep it does clean very well, with a touch of gain it sounds lush. You don't have to overdrive it too much to get the full potential of the amp really. Highly recommended.
