johny2bikes Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Hello all....!! After 20 years of drumming, I am hanging up the sticks. I just lost the enthusiasm - lugging the gear about, all the setting up and packing away, first to arrive, last to leave etc etc. Also it was difficult to find time to practice and progress, especially now with a young family (and of course not wanting to upset the neighbors). I have always liked the idea of playing bass, and about 6 months ago borrowed a bass from the bass player of my last band. Been practicing on a Yamahaa RBX 800 which from what I can gather is a nice bass (for a beginner anyway). Really got into it now, and rekindled that great feeling of playing, learning and enjoying music. Ultimately I would like to find my way back into a band, but realistically I am another 18 months away from that. Today was a bit of a landmark, as I finally sold my drum kit. Sad to see it go, but the good thing is I have a few quid in the bank to invest in some bass gear when I think I am good enough to deserve it. Anyway, having a great time reading and learning all I can from the forum. Johny. P.S - If anyone knows any good teachers in the Peterborugh area let me know - Thanks! Quote
Rosh Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Sorry to hear that you sold the drumkit and lost your way musically, but also conrats on finding that drive and enjoyment again -- I dare say many don't find it again! Welcome to Basschat, bud! Quote
