Larmer
Hey, Has anyone had any experiences with these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Mini-CHILD...s-/390166840340 http://www.1to1music.co.uk/sunburst-mini-b...tras-p-627.html They seem very fascinating for the price. I'm mainly wondering can fifty quid purchase something that's actually playable? If I were to purchase one and it'd feel good enough, then just think if I were to slap in some Nordstrand pick-ups and an East pre-amp 300£ worth of electronics on a 50£ bass Anyways, I've always wanted to try a bass with a guitar scale, but I'm afraid it might be a total waste of a hundred quid (the shipping costs are around 40£ to Finland). Any opinions are appreciated, and welcome! Cheers!
The Burpster
Crikey, its like a ukele bass - Sorry Larmer I have no experience of these, although I was wondering if you know any little peeps of the younger variety? Thoughts were for £100 you could try and if its not good enough to upgrade then you could pass it on as a present..... B.
Owen
I don't know anything about them, but I want one! A nice set of plastic wrapped strings and it would be superb.
Darkstrike
Hmmm, the tiny body'd put me off, but a 25.5" scale bass is a great fun axe for messing around.
Colledge
i think i'd rather slap a bass nut and bridge on a strat, they use the same scale length and i doubt there'd be much in it neck width wise.
Grand Wazoo
Don't know about those but a few years back I bought my son his first bass and that was a Johnson short scale P-Bass which played really well and was quite a nice bass. He then outgrew that one, we sold it and got the real thing on his 16th birthday. Edited September 14, 2010 by Grand Wazoo

As for the nut, it's a bit wide, it'd be more suitable for thin spaced 5ers, but it's not bad as a 4 string. Larmer
Sorry Larmer I have no experience of these, although I was wondering if you know any little peeps of the younger variety? I might just get one, and if I realize I've no use for it, I could pass it on to someone younger who is being curious about basses or guitars. Especially as I'm always encouraging parents with young children to suggest their children to try out any sort or form of music. I always had the urge to play guitar since I was eight years old or so, however it wasn't before I was thirteen until I got my first acoustic and shortly moved to bass.. geoffbyrne
I've just had delivered one of these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp...scale_ebass.htm It works out at a 29" scale. It plays amazingly well!!!! The neck's straight, the action was high - fixed by lowering the saddles - and the frets are surprisingly good! The E string was a bit quieter than the others but I put some stronger springs under the pickup & lifted the bass side up toward the string & it's fine now. The strings are not at all flappy as I thought they might be & apart from the fact they are a bit clangy as they are new, it sounds great - I'm really surprised. It feels like a toy, though, and it has a bit of neck dive, believe it or not!! If I can get a set of Roto 88s for it (anyone got some?) I think it'll be amazing. It's the same size as my Strat!! I also have a Schaller 3D bridge in the drawer....... For £55 it's pretty d*mn good. EDIT: Just to say thanks to those offering strings, and that I'm fixed up now. G.
