Well I'm totally overwhelmed by some of the the classy kit on here but as I'm only just starting back on the road to greatness here's my cheapo rig, not the bass I hasten to add but the rig only cost me £100.

We're looking at a Jaydee Supernatural Roadie fretless(cheers Rich), a Peavey Mark3 series head(cheers Labougie) and an unknown custom built 1x15 bought VERY cheap on Ebay!(cheers Stuart)

Better find me self a band then!!!
Err.........it's grown a bit!!

I'm shouting because I've just come home from playing through this beast.

So what we have here is the brand new Matamp Eighty 8x10 and matching 4x10 (Forty?) in red tolex with stainless steel grill, the 8x10 is an 8x10 and not 2 4x10's with a single piece of wood between them they have ports internally for the sound to pass between the 2x10's same in the 4x10 except the 4x10 is also rear ported and the 8x10 is sealed so the 4x10 is as loud as the 8x10 and these things just cream my Ashdown ABM 8x10 and 2 EA CXL112's. I can't imagine anything louder than this or what the hell you would use it for.

The 8x10 has a switch on the back so it can be wired in stereo or mono so I'm using the Mesa 400+ into the 4x10 at 8ohms (The cab is switchable to 2ohms so it is an all round stand alone) which is slaved into the Mesa Strategy 400 where I send the left and right to the top and bottom of the 8x10 again at 8ohms each so the transformers aren't working hard at all :)

This was such an amazing tone and so FREAKIN LOUD I ended up unplugging it and just using the 8x10 and 400+ but the tone was just perfect I'm finally happy with my sound and I have all the headroom I'll ever need for the bigger shows.

I should be getting a 3u drawer for the rack sometime this week which will fill it except I just need like 1 1/2u rack blanking plates to fill the bit between the 400+ and the Strategy.

So yeah wanted to share and show off so expect this in all the Rigs of Doom etc threads

 • 2 weeks later...

Glad to see that Matty's getting on so well with my old Ashdown Minis! This is what ended up replacing them (and my Landmark 300) All bought used too! I love this forum... :)

Yes, another Berg/MB convert! The LM II's from Flanker, the bottom HS210 is from TerryK, and I completed the rig with another 2nd-hand HS210 from the US that I stumbled across on Evilbay late one night. I've owned this for a good few weeks now and it's killer. I gig with just one cab most of the time, as it's usually more than enough (even with a LOUD drummer!)- I bring both out when FOH support is either non-existent or just rubbish. I'm still getting used to how focused and plain loud this rig is- I really can't see me ever needing anything bigger! For classic fingerstyle with either a Fender P or J, I just plug straight into the LMII with some VPF dialled in and it's fantastic. For pickstyle and heavier stuff I just put a Sansamp BDDI in front and run the LMII almost flat. Sorted!

essentially what ive got, i dont have my own pictures. my stuff is at the practise space.

i occasionally use my Hartke 2.5XL with an additional pre-amp (if theres one lying around - usually ashdown) for extra ampage.

i dont use many effects, i mainly use an EHX q-tron and various distortions. although im not a big overdrive or distortion fan. Ive been wanting an octave pedal for a while. I just can't settle on one desicion . Got any good choices i could look at?

Oh if you insist

Had it since April, my other basses hardly get a look in. The most versatile tone control I've ever heard on a passive bass (.1uf) from spanky to dub and all stops in between. Plays fantastic too.

This is my Roscoe Beck IV, SUB fretless and Vic Bailey Acoustic

That's me all porned out.
