pandathe3
I'm finding my P bass lyte lacking under the belt. Obviously my first port of call would be pickup/preamp replacement, but im really unsure of modding it. I was really keen on keeping it stock! I suppose if i came the sell it, i could reinstall the original parts. Its a P/J config, so i'm instantly drawn to a set of EMGs..... (thanks to owd Wooten!!) But i have heard putting basslines in it really puts the lowend back in! Both of these options, including pre's are around the 100 mark. Which is alot of money, however if spending the dosh gives the desired affect, this bass would be perfect. Oh, also looking at villex, for a cheaper, passive alternative. Cheers in advance! Nick. thisnameistaken
I had a student years ago who had a P Lyte, it didn't sound bad to my ears. Are you after a particular sound that it doesn't do? Who are you listening to / whose sound would you rather have? Also it's worth asking what amp/cabs you're using. Maybe it's putting out more grunt than your amplification can reproduce?
