I love DR Sunbeams on my Streamers but then again I love DR Sunbeams on ANY bass... the next poster might hate nickels! I think its a case of establishing if you prefer flats or rounds, choose your fave gauge then decide if you like nickels or steels... after that you start to get nit picky. Quote
Old_Ben Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Has anyone tried ZOG strings? My guitarist is all about them, he's trying to he me onto them, and they are pretty sweet but you can only import them as far as I'm aware Quote
megallica Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I find Warwick red label strings to be great value for money, I've been using them for a while now on all my basses. Quote
JTUK Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 very tricky question...you are going to have to suck it and see. I used DR for years but am now experimenting on others...mainly because I need a tapered B. FWIW.. DR.. true strings which allow you to get a unbiased tone..so more of you in it...I know that sounds flakey but they influence the sound less, IMO. Daddarios.. chunky strings.. they feel ok but add a fuller sound which I tend to not like. La Bellas.. ok...nice feel, last ok. Elites.. cheaper so you can afford to turn them around. Don't last long but AFAIAC no string lasts much beyond 4 weeks of daily use. Also, if you re-use strings and if you are careful with the wind-on and they go back on the same bass, then DR don't have threads to get messed up when you wash them. I can honesty guess that some of my DR's have been back on my basses 5 times plus.. so, IMO, pretty much the best out there. Quote

Mog Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 If you like liked the strings that it was shipped with then its Black label Warwicks. I also find the red label great value. Roughly 10 quid a pack o 4's. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I prefer Warwick Yellow labels to Reds. Softer and smoother, as they're nickels I tried Warwick EMPs. They were dreadful (and expensive) I'm currently using Elixirs on the Infinity (SN4) and Rotosounds on the Streamer LX6 (but only because they're cheap!) The Elixirs sound superb on the Infinity, so I'll carry on using those. I'll re-string the sixer with Yellow labels next time, as they seem to suit it well. Quote
