Can't say exactly what it is, but I'd say it's from the old Eastern bloc. I've done some research on basses originating from there, and it just reminds me of the sorts of instruments I cam to expect from there.

Mmmmmm looks very "Burns"-esque to me. I rather suspect it is more obscure than that. probably as already been suggested eastern bloc origins.

I wouldn't have said it was a Burns, but possibly a Burns-styled copy. Flight of the Conchords are from New Zealand, could it possibly be by a company from NZ?

EDIT: Also, that neck looks feckin' huge!
