Mr. Foxen
Anyone got experience of this? I usually use danish oil, but thinking the tint to teak oil will give a nice glow to the maple and skip out the whiteyness stage of fresh maple. BassBod
Its a bit thicker and smellier than some - I guess its got more resins and driers mixed in. My fav is Liberon Tung Oil, diluted a bit with white spirit. Can't see the maple staying whitey for too long - just leave it out to dry for a few weeks before it goes in a case and it should mellow a bit? Mr. Foxen
Spoke to hardware store guy, plan is Rustins Danish oil (has actual tung oil in it, unlike some danish oil), and white spirit, so it penetrates, and just build that up. Cat Burrito
I use Colron wood dye. A nice shade like mellow pine will just lose the whiteness. I'm really pleased with the results
Al Heeley
+1 for Rustins Danish, it's top stuff. Not so sure about teak oil, like danish but with red pigment added to it. I use it on the garden bench but would not use it on a bass. I've used Rustins Danish for a few projects and its second only to Tru-Oil
Mr. Foxen
I did have a look at the teak oil, but it said don't use thinners or white spirit. Fairly happy since it saved a few quid and I carried on using my tin of Danish.
