P-T-P
Anyone else think this is completely nuts http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/store/index...n5/p_22218.html A second hand bass for almost as much or possibly more than you'd pay to buy a new one, even if you had to import it and pay for it yourself? I appreciate that being a shop they need to make a profit and will ahve to pay VAT on the sale and are providing a 12 month warranty, but even so, a second hand bass priced at least £1300 over and above the typical price they sell for on here? I just spoke to them and they said the cost reflects the purcase price from the US, import duty, VAT (which they can claim back as a VAT registered business) and the cost of having it professionally set up and the provision of the warranty. If the price was sensible, I genuinely would have considered taking the cash offer I have for my BN6 and buying this BN5 but having chatted with them, we're galaxies apart on value. Just checked and you can order new from the Bass Gallery for £2299 http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...3&type=Bass Guitar Am I missing something or being unduly harsh? OliverBlackman
not missing anything, just a silly price. When the Gallery had Paul Turners BN5 it was only £2100. And that had a name to it at least
bubinga5
there talking rubbish! and bullshit... Did you mention you can get a brand new one from the gallery for £400 less? Edited September 22, 2010 by bubinga5
purpleblob
Yes that place is very strange, does make me wonder if people actually pay those prices or they're there to allow them to appear to negotiate down to the real price Last year I was looking at a nice blue Pedulla Buzz 4 string which they were selling for about £1200 (I think), I liked it but didn't have the money at the time but I kept going back and looking at it until one day it disappeared. It came back a week later priced at £1999, suffice to say I didn't bother looking again. EDIT: I need a spellchecker Edited September 22, 2010 by purpleblob
Chris2112
That price is quite frankly outrageous!
XB26354
They're idiots, putting gear up at stupid prices hoping some mug will jump at it. Bass direct has/had a s/h yamaha trb6p-ii at £2299 used, which is a laugh too, but I guess commission sellers name their price hoping to get the private sale amount after the commission is deducted. Protium
The two Pedulla Rapture that are on there were at £1250, then £2000, now £999... Too much for the RB-4 (1995), but sounds about right for the incorrectly dated RBPJ-4 (2006) Edited September 22, 2010 by Protium
P-T-P
Glad it's not just me then. They had a really beautiful Overwater 5 on there last year with a spalted maple top for a price I remember thinking was outrageously low at the time. Still didn't sell for ages though. risingson
Hopefully based on the inconsistencies of their pricing it might fall to £500 soon and then I'll buy it! Wanted an F-Bass for ages
