Peaty
Hello, Does anyone have any info on how I can take the audio of a short avi movie recorded on a camera and export it to a file format that I can then make a loop out of. Preferable on a mac? Thanks Pete
Dood
I found a freebie program on the net to do exactly that - uninspiringly called 'AVItoMP3' - I'm not sure if there was a mac version though. Failing that, you could import the AVI in to Reaper and then export the track to MP3 that way - but would require more work than a simple app. - As it happens, I was using YouTube videos to make audio loops! waldemar
Because it's an .avi, the process becomes a bit more convoluted on the Mac... Check out the VLC player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ In theory this should be all you need. It plays most things, and can export most things, but I've found its export feature to be very unreliable, usually resulting in failure... You might try Perian: http://perian.org/#detail It's free and will enable you to open the .avi in the QuickTime player, but to extract/export the audio from the QuickTime player, you'll need to have upgraded to QuickTime Player Pro. For accurate trimming down of the loops I use an app called Audacity, once again free, and available here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ There may be other ways of doing this without having to buy the QT Pro player, but the chances are that they'll be long-winded and a bit flaky. Hope this helps in some way. w./
