I went to see Glenn at Manchester last thursday and what a brilliant gig it was! I was looking forward to hearing and seeing the Yam BB2024 that he uses but Glenn was instead using a beat up old red with maple board precision type bass, not sure what it was? don't think it was a Fender logo, maybe an old Tokai?

The sound was awesome, really funky and powerfull with loads of overdrive. Anyone know what the bass was?
cheers, Nick.

Awww - and whilst I am at it, my good friend and ex-band mate, Matt Goom played with Glenn for the last three years or so - here's some pics, doing what he does best!

Matt's a great drummer - had the pleasure of jamming with him a couple of times - I'm good mates with Webby, his mate that helped him with a lot of his clinics at NDA.

Ahhh yup, I know our Webby! He's a character! Say hi from me won'cha! Small world eh!! - Matt is indeed a great drummer. Tons of 'groove' in that lad! Except when we're chillin' supping coffee and watchin' the world go by!

After looking at pics on his website, seems he's using this bass all the time, still don't know what it is tho? think it may have a drop d tuner on it. Nick

Saw Glenn on Weds in Nottm, couldn't make out any logo on the headstock but the lighting wasn't great. Looked to have plenty of wear on it, genuine rather than faked 'road worn' effected. Despite having a bit of a cold and being vocally undermixed for the first part of the set he sounded in good form for someone who must be well into his 50's by now. Still hitting some unfeasibly high notes! Bass playing pretty nifty in places as well, works the crowd like the real pro he is. Storming version of Burn for the encore.
looks like a Nash to me
yeh, after googling Nash basses, i'm sure your right, I had a good view of the logo and it matches ones on the Nash info site. Must admit i'm embaresed to say, i've never heared of them until now! The red Nash of Glenn's looked and sounded superb. Doesn't he normally use a Fender Jazz or more recently BB2024x?

Agree with bottlebassman about Scott McKeon, very good.
Nick.

Saw Glenn at Bilston last Tuesday

What an awesome show, just rocked from start to finish.

He still is one of the best Rock Vocalists and Rock Bassists in the Business.

A massive influence on me when i started playing Bass in 1976,with 2 of my favourite Bass lps of all time Made In Europe and Come Taste The Band being my bibles.

Still mega cool! ...off for another fix at Leamington Spa on Thursday.

It could have been the red precision he used to play with Deep Purple, though he probably sold that to help pay his cocaine bill many years ago.

 • 2 weeks later...

A friend of mine is a sound engineer and has worked for a lot of bands including Glenn Hughes..
A couple of years ago I was at his place and there was a gigbag in the corner..I asked what it was and it turned out to be Glenn Hughes' Vigier bass. I was allowed to give it a try and really liked the feel of that bass..
