Wil
I've got a parts P bass that has gone through numerous incarnations (it started life as an Encore, once sported a Status neck, got caught sleeping with Ashley Cole and was also spotted on the grassy knoll back in '63) but is currently sporting an unfinished Mighty Mite neck. Lovely neck it is too! Anyhow, I was going to leave it as is, as it currently feels great. I've come to realise however, that if I dont finish it, it's going to get manky fast. So, as I dont particularly fancy spraying and sanding, are there any quick, easy rub on solutions that will protect the neck and leave a satin feel? Here's the beast: As an aside, that Fender decal looks pretty awful close up. I didnt do a great job applying it and it would look better over darker, finished neck anyway - I guess a bit of wire wool or 1500 grit wet and dry would be the best way to remove it? Mr. Foxen
Danish oil. I'll do it for money. Or you can at least come and have a feel of my Rick copy I've just done in Danish oil.

Mr. Foxen
£15, will help pay for all the stuff I bought to finish the rick, and have left over. Guessing it is all sanded and such? Is the fretboard side needing doing too?
Wil
It feels as smooth as a babys bum. £15 sounds fine to me. I guess the fretboard would need doing - what sort of colour would the neck/fingerboard end up? Edited September 27, 2010 by Wil
Mr. Foxen
See this thread for maple bass sandied to oiled maple bass. Best bet is to come have a look at it in person. It will be a bit more brown/gold than it is bare, and it will age.
Wil
You home on Saturday? Playing at the Croft Saturday evening, most likely going to be giving this bass it's first outing.
Mr. Foxen
Yeah, gig sweat isn't idea undercoat though. Idea is seal the moisture out, not in. It will take about a week to do a few coats and let it harden off well.
Wil
That's fine. Do you mind giving the headstock a quick sand to remove the sh*t decal? It's just a waterslide so should come right off with no fuss.
Mr. Foxen
Easy. You have my number? Will need it to enter the House of Bass.
