I've got a parts P bass that has gone through numerous incarnations (it started life as an Encore, once sported a Status neck, got caught sleeping with Ashley Cole and was also spotted on the grassy knoll back in '63) but is currently sporting an unfinished Mighty Mite neck. Lovely neck it is too!

Anyhow, I was going to leave it as is, as it currently feels great. I've come to realise however, that if I dont finish it, it's going to get manky fast. So, as I dont particularly fancy spraying and sanding, are there any quick, easy rub on solutions that will protect the neck and leave a satin feel?

Here's the beast:

As an aside, that Fender decal looks pretty awful close up. I didnt do a great job applying it and it would look better over darker, finished neck anyway - I guess a bit of wire wool or 1500 grit wet and dry would be the best way to remove it?

It feels as smooth as a babys bum. £15 sounds fine to me.

I guess the fretboard would need doing - what sort of colour would the neck/fingerboard end up?

See this thread for maple bass sandied to oiled maple bass. Best bet is to come have a look at it in person. It will be a bit more brown/gold than it is bare, and it will age.

That's fine. Do you mind giving the headstock a quick sand to remove the sh*t decal? It's just a waterslide so should come right off with no fuss.
