Davy
Why is it that when I play a music source such as an MP3 song through my PA (2 10" RCF Powered Speakers at 400w a side), the bass guitar on the track sounds really loud and clear and fills the whole venue with sound compared to my bass through MAG600 Head into a 4x10 and 1x15 speaker cabs which is loud immediately in front of the speaker but then seems to vanish about 3 foot in front of the cabs and isn't as clear as the MP3 track? I've also tried DI'ing the bass through my PA but the sound is weak and has no thump like the recorded MP3 track has.
gjones
Probably the compression on the mp3 makes it sound punchier (and it will have a bass drum backing the bass up for added thump). The Mag 600 has a built in compressor try that and see if it improves things.
Bankai
It'll be down to the compression I'd expect.
charic
Compression, eq, mastering and multipressors. also in recordings you can leave gaps for instruments to shine through in a mix and also using panning.
