It's curiosity with a pinch of GAS that's got me wondering....

Anyway you can never have enough P's, can you???!!!
you could say the Yamaha Attitude is a P clone too.
Is it up there with the best of 'em though?
Also is it passive?

Celinder probably do the best one, but despite what people have said to me when iv said this before, i just cannot imagine whatsover that they would be worth all that money. end of the day, its a p bass!

yep, the Attitude is passive.
I've only tried the old 5string version, which was nice, but a couple of people here have the top of the range 4's.
And the old BB series Yamaha Basses, the BB300 and such, great "P"basses.
This thread has got me aching to get my BB300 back in one piece again.

there is also the fernandes Atlas, which looks more like a stingray copy but sounds more like a Precision even though it says it has switchable tones they really dont make much difference. quite nice and cheap though.

Arguably one of the best P-bass clones

The Mexican Fender Precision is a great value bass and does the classic P sound very well (you'd hope so given the name on the headstock!) & they're a snip second hand. There's a mint electron blue one on the for sale forums here for £250. Make sure you try the new 2008 American Standard, though. They're very good & have a little something extra to the sound. Difficult to explain, but you'll hear it when you play one.

As for copies, the Laklands seem to be the most popular at the moment. The candy apple red Duck Dunn signature is particularly fetching.

Anyone on here know much about Alleva Coppolo P basses?
Our American friends seriously wax lyrical about them!

They look flippin expensive too!!!

If you like your Tokai J Bass, how about looking for a Tokai P Bass? I've just bought a Tokai Hardpuncher and it has exactly the P-bass rumble that perhaps you're after. Great quality. Shame about the gold hardware, however.
