lanark
From first look it would appear that a two-fingered wall hanger is the same as any other, but I'm happy to be convinced that a £3.50 is significantly worse than a £15 one. Any recommendations? I need to get the guitars off the ground so the cats don't knock them over and I hate keeping them in their bags and cases as I never play them. However I have 4 of these and I have to say they're very good. About £12 each or something, I would suggest this is not something to scrimp on. Edited September 30, 2010 by farmer61
jezzaboy
Farmer is bang on with the Hercules grab system. I had 4 at one time and they are ideal. More expensive yes but cheaper than paying to have the bass fixed when it falls onto the floor. Jez
retroman
Big +1 for the Hercules bass hangers. I have ten on the wall at the moment, and not lost a bass yet. Some of them have been up for years

The hangers that I am using are the slightly more expensive ones that mount to the wall with a wooden plinth http://www.herculesstands.co.uk/product/85...rd%2C_short_arm

bartelby
I got 6 cheapish ones from hong kong off ebay. About £15 for the lot inc shipping. They've been up about a year and none of my basses have fallen off the wall... yet.
lanark
But just got 6 of the long reach 90o ones off amazon for upstairs in the spare room. Okay they don't have the grab but with a little tilt on them when drilling the holes I can't see them falling without external influence. Haven't got them up yet but they seem sturdy enough. Looks more like the screws and the rawl plugs would be the weak link rather than the hanger its self.
I don't quite understand how those long arm ones work., It says that they hold onto them from the side - and the hook appears to be at an unusual angle. Does it hold the neck below the headstock as usual or do they cradle it somewhere less common?
Stylon Pilson
I have four of these supported by three of these apiece. They've been up for over 2 years without any problems so far. S.P.

Dood
I have five Stagg wall hangers:- I like the 3 screw mounting of these hangers over others that only have 2 screws, for a more secure and stronger attatchment. I also like this style of hanger as the arm is as short as possible, thus reducings any stress on it's joints when heavy instruments are hung from them. They have been on my walls for years now and show no signs of giving way. They were cheap as chips too! I have plasterboard walls - and it is very important to use the right sort of fixings - I'd say that was more important than the choice of hanger itself. I've used these:
wesfinn
bit of wire around the machine head and the other end hooked over a screw in the wall! works a treat!
