Marky L
I was in a SC yesterday and they had some Italia guitars on the wall. I was immediately drawn to the shiny sparkles. Lots of lovely retro feel details and nice creamy coloured plastic. Anyway, further along was what struck me first as being a most foul bass, but then within seconds I saw the beauty hidden in the beast! Italia Modulo Tipo 3 in a rich blue sparkle, with a crazy raised silver beading around the middle edge of the body. I was unable to plug it in, but my first impression on picking it up was how back breakingly heavy it was. It felt OK to play though, but it's just the fantastic styling of these things. http://www.arbiter.co.uk/italia/electric_b...bass_guitar.htm Has anyone had any real experiance of these guitars? Are they just fancy looking tat,or is there some actual real guitar hidden under those tarty come hither and abuse me looks?!?! And anyone that puts this in the description "Sparkle top on flawlessly applied Mother-of-Toilet-Seat Pearloid.".. that's genius! OutToPlayJazz
Hmmm... I've long been eyeing up the Maranello Z bass (the one with the piezo pickup in the bridge.)

BigRedX
For retro styling I personally prefer the looks of Eastwood The EUB-1 and Classic 4 in particular look very tasty...

I haven't really considered an eastwood mainly because of scale lenght - they're all (except for the EUB and EEB) shortscale (30''). Now the Gretsch white falcon... The walnut one looks fantastic! Anyone tried them? Its $500, so I'd take a guess at it being between £400 and £500 over here, but would it be worth it? Aussiephoenix
they're too heavy for me... seem like good basses, tried a maranello, and it sounded good, just dont think it filled my requirements having in mind the price they go for. I think the LOOKS justify the price, nothing else on the instrument is really that spankin hot. FAD?

simon1964
I love the Italia look, even though I keep telling myself I shouldn't! I've been gassing for one since playing one unplugged at Music Live. I'll be itnerested to see how the review pans out.

The only interesting thing about him was that he had a large 2112-era Rush logo on the breast pocket of his jacket.
