fretmeister
?? I'm curious about the valve preamp. Will it do a little grit? I'm using a MB F1 at the mo but it could do with a little grit sometimes. Don't want to go back to heavy amps though. Anyone bought or tried and didn't buy? s1ater
What about a pedal? I was looking for some extra grit and I'm currently using a dha vt2 twin std and it works great, its got 2 channels as well which means you can have a clean and a gritty tone. JTUK
Don't rightly know...but I heard these were supposed to be the throw back to the SM series with the valve pre and if they are chasing the same thing, you can get a grinding sound out of them, IME. BTGAndy
I have one and I'm afraid you can't get any grit out of it, it's a fairly warm sounding pre for an SWR but still very clean. I'm in a mood with mine because SWR put in a power amp clipping light that's designed to tell you when the power amp is near clipping, not when it clips. The issue is that the clip light comes on a long time before the power amp actually clips, it's also only just keeping up with two guitars and a loud drummer in a rock band so I'm getting rid of it and getting a GB Shuttle 6.0, which I'm led to believe is a similar clean sounding amp but with the option to add grit with the pre valve. gafbass02
From what I've read the shuttle 6.0 will behave in exactly the same way
EBS_freak
I haven't found one to try yet... I always thought that the head and the seperate poweramp was a neat idea though. I wanted to buy one just for the chic factor!!
fretmeister
Ah well. I have a nice Tech21 XXL Bass pedal which gives me grit, but I'm just trying to lower the gear carrying! One day Ampeg will do a SVT head at the same weight as a Mark Bass.
rmshaw37
You seen the svt 7? O know it's light but I don't know how light? Other option is sansamp plus light power amp
