Ampeg SVT-810 AV (on hold)

With a heavy heart, I need to let this one go.

I have wanted one of these since seeing my Dad's friend playing one in 1974. When Ampeg brought out the reissues, I couldn't resist! Bought this in 2007 along with the SVT VR head with the intention of using it as a "special" treat on nice gigs with an easy load-in.

Sounds as it should - punchy, loud, warm and heavy(!) - all the usual adjectives that are quite rightly mentioned when talking about this cabinet. Whatever you throw at it, it takes, turn your amp to 11 and it laughs at you!

Those special treat gigs have meant about 10 gigs in total for this cabinet.

To cut a (very long) story short, I now have 2 prolapsed discs in my neck ( not through lifting this!!) and this is sadly never going to get used on a gig again which makes it an expensive luxury to have sitting here.

So I am taking the sensible option and downsizing my rig - I will also be putting my immaculate David Eden D115 XL cabinet up for sale over the next few days too.

The 8 x 10 Ampeg cabinet is in almost as new condition. I purchased the genuine Ampeg padded cover at the same time which set me back about $90 plus import duty but well worth it.

This is a USA model before they started being assembled in Vietnam.

There are a couple of small scuffs at the bottom as you'll see in the pics.

As far as shipping this, I reckon the best thing to say is that buyer collects. I am based in West Sussex about 20 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The cheapest I can see this online is £886 but looks like they are out of stock and says item no longer available? Next one up from that is £899 and £999 - RRP is apparently £1200 plus.

I'd like £700.00 OVNO for this and as I said above, buyer collects.

Here's the pics.

Good luck with the sale.

Very good price for a lovely cab, but you might just have to wait a while to find the right buyer as I think the general trend is moving away from big heavy cabs. Stick with it mind, as I'm sure someone will be tempted.
