paul h Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 At last weeks rehearsal I noticed a significantly lower output from my D and G strings. I tweaked the pickup heights which helped a bit but I am planning on getting over it with a bucketful of compression. I use light strings and I am sure that a heavier gauge might help. Anyone care to share their experiences? Quote

mep Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Your'e not playing a MM Stingray are you (only joking). There's enough been said about the G string on this forum! What bass are you playing? Presumably the problem is quite new and was not so bad or noticable before? Change your strings, change your tone settings, lower the pup under the E&A, get a Fat Finger. Never an easy solution. paul h Posted October 22, 2010 Author Posted October 22, 2010 Quick update, Changed from D'Addario EXL180s to EXL220s and it's solved the problem. The 220s have the same gauge E and A string but with a heavier D and G. Balance is restored! Quote
