GreeneKing
1st proper outing with the BB2024MX last night. Man that passive output is immense. Playability with lighter gauge D'Addario's is 10/10. The toggle switch is exactly what suits me for simple yet effective adjustments and the tone control seems very linear compared to most I've used. I was very happy with it and I'm now just a bit 'over the moon' Peter

alanbass1
I have to agree with GK that the pups on the 2024x sound immense. Kongo
Here's my main bass; "Retribution". Yamaha TRB6II, Japanese made, year 1998 I am told but have never checked. it's 35" scale as we know, wide string spacing...neck is like a baseball bat, feels like a P-bass neck. Oddly, despite it being gargantuan in size this is the easiest of all my basses to play. The action is 2mm off the last fret and other than the 14th fret on the G-string, all notes play with minimal buzz (I like to have a little). Dunno what these were designed for, Jazz fusion maybe? But I used mine for Progressive through to Technical metal. It's neck had the lacquer sanded off and was finished with wax by previous owner so it has a bare wood feel but your thumb doesn't stick...I have considered doing this to all my basses. Never re-applied the finish though...probably should? The gold hardware has worn due to age, it has a couple of minimal chips in places, the bridge has gone almost chrome. Only bad parts are I can never get the jack to stay tight, so it loosens and spins, which if left will, and has on a couple of occations, pull out the output wire. Tried many fixes but the damn thing still loosens. Also, as seems with all of these, the centre indent is hard to find on the pan pot and EQ controls, making on the fly adjustments iffy. Nontheless, I love it. Wanted one ever since I found I love Yamaha's and that they play very well and are built like tanks. Also have an RBX170, which was my first bass. An RBX375 and did have an RBX270, which I lightly modded and was homage to my first bass. I sold it on here years ago, it may have come around, not sure. I do fancy a Yamaha RBX775 because I'd like a narrow spaced 5-string in 35" scale but they are hard to come by. BigRedX
We don't seem to get many pictures of basses in action in the porn threads so I thought I'd post this from our most recent gig:

BigRedX
interesting stage show you've got going there...
Of course! We aim to entertain. In fact that shot is very rare view of Mr Venom actually on stage. He's normally off-stage terrifying the audience. It can be somewhat disconcerting when the only contact we have with him while we're playing is his disembodied vocals coming through the stage monitors. BASainty
This thread hasn't been active for a little while so I thought I would update it ^^ I am getting my hands on a BB415 very soon in the wine sunburst (I am still gagging for a BB in the orange sparkle!) Im going to fit it with some flats to compliment my BB414 which also has flats. Also speaking on the RBX im planning on getting some new tuners for my RBX374 as the stock ones its currently fitted with rattle a little bit, this aint an issue when its plugged in as you cant hear it but if you were to stand close enough to me and the amp is turned down you can hear it a bit so im going to get those sorted! I am also planning on giving it a bit of a new look, maybe some vinyl stickers to give it a bit of a different look. Mudpup
Looks like i'm in the club too! Just chopped in my Spector NS2000/4 at PMT (great service from Bob and Dylan at Romford btw) and left with a shiny white BB424X. What an absolutely stunning bass it is. Gigged it last night and its everything i ever wanted tonewise. So much rumble, definition and grunt available and just sits in the mix fantastically. Running it thru a GK MBFusion head and 2 x 212MBE cabs. I'm sitting here wondering if i'll ever play my Spector Euro at a gig again and how can a bass thats a quarter the price of Specs be so good. The world has gone crazy. Edited October 14, 2012 by Mudpup
BASainty
Welcome to the club I love the BB424X and you got it in the best colour! All types BB are pretty special in the sense that they punch way above their weight. Can you post any cheeky pics of it up?

neepheid
Oh wow very nice, love the red What have you done to resurrect it?
It came to me in stages - first the body and neck (the previous owner was going to use them as the basis for a piece of furniture but thankfully never got around to it, I say thankfully because I really like BBs). The neck had a suspected maxed out truss rod and had no nut. The owner of the bass before that got wind of my acquisition and as luck would have it had kept most of the guts and was kind enough to make them available to me. Someone had bought the bridge pickup and a few other bits (jack/plate, switch) from him. Amazingly, all the stars aligned because mere weeks later, the owner of said bridge pickup had not got round to fitting it to his BB300 and had put both the BB300 and the bridge pickup bits up for sale. One quick enquiry later and I had all the pieces I had a mate make a new nut for me (Rich/Ou7shined on here - he's way better at that kind of stuff than me). The truss rod was indeed maxed - I tightened it as far as I dared and once strings were on there was still a generous amount of relief. I slipped a couple of washers on the rod and tightened it up again. Now the relief is better and I didn't have to tighten the hell out of it so I think I'm good for now. The selector switch was bust and so needed replacing. So a bit of soldering later (and re-soldering because I wired the pickups out of phase, what are the chances? Oh yeah, 50% chance ), a quick and dirty setup and here we are. And it's pretty damn good sounding and feeling too. It's not great looking (body is pretty beat up around the edges, as is the headstock), but for a beater bass it's exceptional. I'd have no problem gigging it. Will have to keep an eye on that neck though. Edited November 29, 2012 by neepheid
