Clarky
Bilbo mentioned having one of these in a thread but I reckon most clip on tuners wouldn't have a wide enough clamp part to hold on to a DB headstock. Anyone have a recommendation here for a particular model that fits a DB? Many thanks as ever, Clarky
keeponehandloose
Clamp it on the bridge.
Clarky
Clamp it on the bridge.
OK, didn't know you could do that. Now feel stupid
Bilbo
Yep, that's what I do and you can use it to check your intonation to if you are of a mind!!
tinyd
I have an IntelliTouch PT-10 - it works pretty well clipped on the bridge. It's good for gigs etc because it has a big display that goes green when in tune which makes it useful for checking intonation as Bilbo suggests. Bilbo
I don't even know what mine is but it also lights up green when in tune so I guess thats a common feature! Great little gadget thought. You can leave it on your bridge permanently so don't even have to remember to pack it for gigs. It also works quicker that my rack mounted tuner. Gareth Hughes
Aren't double basses like electrics - don't they come in tune when you buy them?
farmer61
I got one, think it's a Warwick or something like that (I'll double check). Works well apart from it chews up the disc type batteries, already on my second in under a year and I've barely used it. As a concept it's really good!!! Cat Burrito
I too use the IntelliTouch PT-10 but any clip on tuner is usally fine. I leave mine on the bridge all the time and occasionally practice with it on if working on my intonation. I've found there are dead spots on the bridge where sometimes it doesn't register but if you move it around a little you usually find a spot and can just go from there
hubrad
I've got a couple - Intelli and Acoustica, both from the shop (naturally enough!) http://www.themusicroom-online.co.uk/produ...roducts_id/3001 http://www.themusicroom-online.co.uk/produ...roducts_id/4627 I sometimes put them on the bridge, but I find clipping them onto the cheek of the headstock, rather than trying for the end of the scroll, to be more reliable. Also this brings them very close for viewing without visible squinting on stage. Battery life seems really good on both, prob because they turn off after a couple of minutes of no vibration so no accidental leaving them on for the week. I think alot of modern tuners have this kind of circuit.

Must get around to checking it out!!
Beer of the Bass
I find it affects the sound leaving a clip on tuner on the bridge - it's subtle, but a noticable muting effect. Mine goes on the pegbox cheek on the bass side.
