chuck_stones
As an owner of a GK 400 RB-IV, I can honestly say one thing about the GK 'growl' is that it cuts through the mix better than other amps I've used, but its definitely an acquired taste and not to everyone's liking. I seem to recall that Duff McKagan from G'n'R used a GK amp - might be worth listening to some of his bass parts if you want an idea of the sound. Just to second Thom's comment, I run my GK amp head eq almost flat, and just eq my sound on the bass. Buzzy
Thanks for the opinions, after all the positive comments I'm gonna try one out. Nice that people are happy with the flat sound as I really can't be doing with loads of messing about with settings. The stuff I play (Stones,Faces) just needs a nice classic bass sound,I use a Jap 62 P or 75 J so I don't need anything too zingy.
