throwoff
http://www.fleabass.com/ The Street Bass. An absolutely insane MSRP for that thing... If its even a little bit good for that money a new PU and set of electronics mean you could have a string through body bass in a frankly funky colour for what? 350? Doctor J
You could buy a Matsumoku era Aria SB for 350, easy. I don't get these at all.
throwoff
A lot of younger bassists (who are going to be looking at this price class) wouldn't know a Masumoku if it came up to them and politely introduced itself! I am interested to hear from someone who has played one.

AndyTravis
They have new Distribution in the UK now, so they're still setting up, Streetbass has a basswood body instead of Alder and doesn't come with the gigbag you get with the model 32. I think they're great fun, and although i sent a few back at first, the ones that we ended up with and i was happy with are actually great basses for not much money. Granted, a bit of a one trick pony, but different enough.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Jeebuz - Perhaps the website is meant as a metaphor for the basses - looks OK on the surface, as long as you don't look any deeper than the surface. Welcome screen, table based layout & framed redirect - what is it 1996? Does flea not want people with visual disabilities to visit his website? Does he not care about SEO? trojan dropper - (I'm running noscript, so I didn't see this for myself, so I'll take the others' word for it) This is unforgivable - they should take the site down until it's restored from a clean backup and tested
Ou7shined
Yeah that site is obviously gathering marketing information on us. Trojan horse detected! Bad tactics. *clicks CCleaner* Edited October 11, 2010 by Ou7shined
thodrik
I got a big virus thing too. Bad form I say! Harmless enough basses and the ethos behind the brand is admirable. Personally I wouldn't mind a different scratchplate so it didn't scream Musicman, but its a minor quibble.
Mr. Foxen
Nice he has a lesson with the actual basics on there. Flea doing that is pretty much the ideal thing.

I've got massive respect for him.
Chris2112
Sadly the Fleabass always struck be as a bit naff. I think he should have stuck with Modulus; I can't really understand the falling out he had with them as he was still using their basses live along with that dodgy jazz bass he had! I do recall that he left Musicman when they wouldn't change the name of the Stingray to the Flea bass! Mind you, given the rubbish that comes out of Sterling Ball's mouth sometimes I wouldn't be surprised if that story was somewhat exaggerated!
