Randy_Marsh Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Can someone tell me if the Basslines Quarter Pound J pickups are active or passive? As I'm looking at buying a set. Also, where can you buy them in the UK? (other than GAK) Quote
Cat Burrito Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 SD are always woefully under stocked. Yes you can but you may have to order them in. Can't help with the other bit Quote
retroman Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 If it's any help, the 1/4 pounders I have in a P bass are passive, with massive pole pieces Quote
Cat Burrito Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Scrub that, they are passive & a few places state they are in stock. My SPB-1 just seems to be taking an age and I've had this before with SD Quote
Randy_Marsh Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Crikey! That was quick. Just had a look on the SD site and it says that their active pickups are listed as Blackouts and Livewires. So looks like the quarter pounds are passive... i guess. Might have to order through GAK then :/ would i be able to get some through John Shuker or someone like that? Quote
endorka Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 They are passive... but they have a higher output than many active basses. I've recently had some of these fitted to a five string Squire Precision (which has jazz style pickups - I don't know why) and they sound incredible. Jennifer Quote

dudewheresmybass Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 iirc the distribution of SD pups is through Aria. Therefore anyone that stocks aria basses should be able to order them Quote
harlowbassplayer Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 if you want SD active best choice would be Seymour duncan lighten rod's Quote
