jezzaboy
Liked Imelda on Jools tonight. The last time I watched her on the program, her bass player was playing an upright but tonight had a nice white Jazz with a rosewood board through a TE stack. Simple but effective. casapete
Bassist is Al Gare, a great player! Older BC ers may remember him playing upright with King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, excellent 50's style r'n'b band. Think he's also done some stuff with Richard Hawley too. Can i just give a big shout for Si Nixon from Leeds who was playing trumpet with John Legend on the same show - nice one Si!!
goblin
I reckon he'll still be playing upright on Friday, I spotted it on it's side next to one of his stacks

Cool - their percussionist / sax player, Pete Williams, sometimes fills in for us on congas or bongos. He's a nice guy and I love their afrobeat version of Crosstown Traffic. Cat Burrito
I saw Imelda May live earlier this year. The rhythm section depressed me - too talented! Al Gare is a seriously awesome player.
Clarky
Just watched Imelda Mae on Friday Jools - she and her band are very good Was it me or did the neck on the bass player's Jazz bass (very nice oly white one, BTW) look like a tree trunk? Loved Al's bass on Jools show too
jakenewmanbass
I'm sure I know the drummer too, his name is Steve something, I did a bluesy gig with him somewhere in Barnes with a band called sugar T and the Swells. Yep I thought they sounded great!! Edited October 16, 2010 by jakesbass
Clarky
Mrs C was furious that Imelda Mae got three songs (she hates 50s type music) and her beloved Ray Davies and Mumford & Sons got only one. Does seem rather unbalanced
karlfer
Never heard of the lass until she was on Johnny Walker (Thurs night?) Loved the stuff she did and will be getting some of her releases.
Stu-khag
just watched the show. Cyndi Lauper's neck looks like one of those slinky spring things. I don't normally comment on people's appearance but it was so bloody distracting. I honestly cant remember a word she said or anything she sung
