moogmusic
Hi, As a guitarist who's newly playing the bass for a mate, I've got a compression question: I have a Boss CS-3 and was going to use it as a compressor for my bass but would I be better getting hold of an LMB-3. Or would you recommend anything else in a similar (secondhand) price range to do the job. Cheers Steven
cheddatom
Have you read the thread on compressors IE do you know how they work? A limiter is a very specific form of compression. Personally I would find the LMB3 over the CS-3 if I HAD to make a choice, but that's for bass AND guitar! What is the effect you're trying to acheive? fxpedal.co.uk
The LMB-3 works far better on bass than the CS-3. And, despite its name, it's more of a compressor than a limiter. Others to consider are the BBE Opto Stomp, EBS Multicomp and Seymour Duncan Doubleback.
nick
Another option if you want to keep the CS-3 is to get it modded. I did the Ovnilab mod to one I had - totally transformed it. Use a Multicomp now, but definitely rate the modded CS-3, will probably buy another one at some stage & mod it again.
